DIRECT CURRENT (DC) VOLTAGE RESPIRATION DETECTOR
Technologies and implementations for determining a respiration rate of a person from heart rate monitoring signal is disclosed.
1 . A method of detecting perfusing ventricular tachycardia (VT) comprising:
injecting a direct current (DC) signal into two or more electrodes of a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD);
receiving a plurality of electrical signals;
determining if the received plurality of electrical signals include an indication of a respiration rate of a user; and
if it is determined that the received plurality of electrical signals include the indication of the respiration rate of the user, providing an indication on the WCD to confirm a health status of the user.

The method of claim 1 , wherein determining if the received plurality of electrical signals include the indication of respiration comprises receiving an indication of a change of the DC signal at the two or more electrodes, the received indication being included in the plurality of electrical signals, separating the received indication of the change of the DC signal from the received plurality of electrical signals, the separated received indication corresponding to the respiration rate of the user.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising if it is determined that the received plurality of electrical signals does not include the indication of respiration of the user, proceeding to shock the user.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein injecting the DC signal comprises injecting a DC current.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the plurality of electrical signals from the two or more electrodes comprises receiving an indication of ventricular tachycardia (VT) of a person.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein providing the indication on the WCD to confirm a health state of person comprises determining if the person is experiencing a perfusing VT.
