Abstract

Disclosed is a fence system. The fence system, comprising: a first post; a second post, wherein each of the first post and the second post comprises a first set of ribs and a second set of ribs; a lower rail, wherein a first end of the lower rail is adapted to terminate at a face of the first set of ribs of the first post and a second end of the lower rail is adapted to terminate at a face of the first set of ribs of the second post; and an upper rail, wherein the lower rail and the upper rail are positioned to receive one or more infill boards, such that the one or more infill boards are adapted to terminate at a face of the second set of ribs of the first post and at a face of the second set of ribs of the second post.

Claims (32)

1 .- 20 . (canceled)

21 . A fence system comprising:

a first post and a second post spaced apart to define a fence section;

a plurality of infill boards extending between the first and second posts to form a portion of the fence section;

a mid-rail extending between the first and second posts;

a decorative panel at least partially supported by the mid-rail; and

a first post adaptor provided in a groove of the first post, the post adaptor configured to secure a first edge of the decorative panel within the first post.

22 . The fence system of claim 21 , further comprising a second post adaptor provided in a groove of the second post and configured to secure a second edge of the decorative panel within the second post.

23 . The fence system of claim 21 , wherein the first post adaptor is shaped to engage the groove of the first fence post.

24 . The fence system of claim 23 , wherein the first post adaptor is configured to engage at least one set of a plurality of ribs provided in the groove of the first fence post.

25 . The fence system of claim 21 , wherein the first post adaptor comprises a channel configured to engage the first edge of the decorative panel to hold the panel in a fixed position between the first post and second post.

26 . The fence system of claim 21 , wherein the mid-rail is positioned above of the plurality of infill boards.

27 . The fence system of claim 21 , further comprising a lower rail extending between the first post and second posts configured to support at least a portion of the plurality of infill boards.

28 . The fence system of claim 27 , wherein the lower rail is provided below the plurality of infill boards.

29 . The fence system of claim 21 , further comprising an upper rail extending between the first and second posts above the decorative panel, wherein the decorative panel and the plurality of infill boards form a mixed infill section.

30 . The fence system of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of infill boards are oriented in a horizontal orientation or a vertical orientation between first post and second post.

31 . The fence system of claim 30 , wherein the mid-rail is above the uppermost infill board of the plurality of infill boards in a horizontal orientation.

32 . The fence system of claim 30 , wherein the mid-rail is above a top-end of the plurality of infill boards in the vertical orientation.

33 . The fence system of claim 21 , wherein the side edge of the mid-rail is received in the groove of the first post.

34 . The fence system of claim 33 , wherein the side edge of the mid-rail is received in the groove of the first post in a portion not occupied by the first post adaptor.

35 . The fence system of claim 21 , further comprising a fastening bracket securing an upper rail to the first post, thereby locking the decorative panel and the infill boards in place within the fence section.

36 . A method of assembling a fence comprising:

installing a first post and a second post at spaced-apart locations to define a fence section, each of the first post and the second post including a groove;

positioning a mid-rail so that the mid-rail extends between the first post and the second post;

installing a plurality of infill boards between the first post and the second post to form a portion of the fence section;

positioning a decorative panel above the plurality of infill boards, the mid-rail at least partially supporting the decorative panel; and

providing a first post adaptor in the groove of the first post, the first post adaptor securing a first edge of the decorative panel within the groove of the first post.

37 . The method of claim 36 , further comprising:

providing a second post adaptor in the groove of the second post, the second post adaptor securing a second edge of the decorative panel within the second post.

38 . The method of claim 36 , wherein providing the first post adaptor comprises inserting the first post adaptor into the groove of the first post so that the first post adaptor engages at least one set of a plurality of ribs provided in the groove of the first post.

39 . The method of claim 36 , further comprising inserting a side edge of the mid-rail into the groove of the first post.

40 . The method of claim 39 , wherein inserting the side edge of the mid-rail into the groove of the first post comprises positioning the side edge in a portion of the groove not occupied by the first post adaptor.
