Abstract

Systems, methods, and apparatus for identifying, tracking, and disrupting UAVs are described herein. A tracking system can identify an object in a particular airspace as a UAV based on sensor data associated with the object. A countermeasure device can generate one or more disruption signals toward the UAV. The tracking system can track and monitor the UAV based on additional sensor data.

Claims (38)

1 . A method comprising:

identifying, via a central system comprising one or more computing device, an object in a particular airspace as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based on sensor data associated with the object;

generating, via a countermeasure device, at least one disruption signal;

transmitting the at least one disruption signal from the countermeasure device toward the UAV; and

monitoring, via at least one of the central system and the countermeasure device, the UAV based on additional sensor data.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the at least one disruption signal comprises transmitting the at least one disruption signal on at least one targeted frequency band selected to reduce a likelihood of reception of the at least one disruption signal by non-targeted devices.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising obtaining the additional sensor data after transmitting the at least one disruption signal.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting one or more communication signal containing at least one of the data and the additional data from the central system to the countermeasure device via at least one signal repeater to extend a range of the communication signal transmitted.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the tracking system communicates with the countermeasure device via at least one bilateral communication link.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor data is captured by the countermeasure device.

7 . A system, comprising

a central system, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one computing device communicably coupled to the memory, the at least one computing device being configured to identify an object in a particular airspace as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based on sensor data associated with the object; and

a countermeasure device, comprising:

a signal generator configured to generate at least one disruption signal; and

at least one antenna configured to transmit the at least one disruption signal toward the UAV;

wherein at least one of the central system and the countermeasure device is further configured to monitor the UAV based on additional sensor data.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the countermeasure device is further configured to transmit the at least one disruption signal on at least one targeted frequency band selected to reduce a likelihood of reception of the at least one disruption signal by non-targeted devices.

9 . The system of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the central system and the countermeasure device is further configured to obtain the additional sensor data after the at least one disruption signal has been transmitted.

10 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the countermeasure device is configured to obtain the additional sensor data.

11 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the central system is configured to transmit one or more communication signal containing at least one of the data and the additional data toward the countermeasure device, the system further comprising at least one signal repeater configured to extend a range of the communication signal transmitted.

12 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one computing device communicates with the countermeasure device via at least one bilateral communication link.

13 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the sensor data is captured by the countermeasure device.

14 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying one or more program that, when executed by at least one first computing device of a central system and at least one second computing device of a countermeasure device, causes:

the central system to:

identify an object in a particular airspace as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based on sensor data associated with the object;

the countermeasure device to:

generate at least one disruption signal; and

transmit the at least one disruption signal toward the UAV; and

at least one of the central system and the countermeasure device to:

monitor the UAV based on additional sensor data.

15 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the one or more program further causes the countermeasure device to transmit the at least one disruption signal on at least one targeted frequency band to reduce a likelihood of reception of the at least one disruption signal by non-targeted devices.

16 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the one or more program further causes at least one of the central system and the countermeasure device to obtain the additional sensor data after the at least one disruption signal is transmitted.

17 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the one or more program, when executed by the at least one first computing device, further causes the at least one first computing device to communicate with the at least one second computing device via at least one signal repeater to extend a range of a communication signal transmitted.

18 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the one or more program, when executed by the at least one first computing device, further causes the at least one first computing device to communicate with the at least one second computing device via at least one bilateral communication link.

19 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the sensor data is captured by the countermeasure device.

20 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the at least one disruption signal comprises at least one command to the UAV based on a type of radio frequency (RF) signal being used by the UAV.
