Abstract

The disclosed enhanced document creation and parsing systems deal with enhanced documents that allow for the presentation of document content in a preferred visual manner, while ensuring that the document content can be captured accurately by an automated parser with nothing being discarded or misrepresented. The enhanced document creation system may create an enhanced document by encoding document content in accordance with a defined schema, optionally encrypting the resulting structured data into an encrypted byte string, and embedding the encrypted byte string as non-visible metadata in a rendered document. The resulting enhanced document can be completely and accurately parsed by an enhanced document parsing system that is capable of extracting, decrypting and decoding the embedded document metadata.

Claims (69)

1 . A method of creating an enhanced document, comprising:

presenting a user with a document creation platform;

receiving, at the document creation platform, information from the user;

creating, using the document creation platform, an initial document based on the information from the user;

receiving a request from the user to export the initial document in a user-specified file format;

in response to the request, encoding content of the initial document in accordance with a defined schema to create the enhanced document, wherein the enhanced document comprises a structured document that includes the content of the initial document encoded as structured data therein;

storing the encoded content in association with a document identifier;

embedding the document identifier as non-visible metadata within the enhanced document; and

rendering the enhanced document in the user-specified file format.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a second request from a document parsing system, the second request containing the document identifier; and

transmitting, in response to the second request, the encoded content to the document parsing system.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

translating the structured document from the defined schema into a standardized document schema to form a translated document; and

storing the translated document in association with the document identifier.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the user with a set of fillable form elements, wherein the information from the user is based on the user completing the set of fillable form elements.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the user, an uploaded graphical element; and

adding the uploaded graphical element to the initial document prior to encoding the content of the initial document.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing, via the document creation platform, a tool to generate a graphical element;

receiving, via the tool, one or more user inputs associated with user attributes;

generating the graphical element based on the one or more user inputs; and

adding the graphical element to the initial document prior to encoding the content of the initial document.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting the user with one or more document templates; and

generating the initial document based on a user-selected document template.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the enhanced document is rendered according to a skin retrieved from a skin database.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

detecting a user interaction comprising a user request to save the initial document; and

in response to detecting the user interaction, encoding the content of the initial document to generate an encoded version of the initial document; and

storing the encoded version of the initial document in association with a unique document identifier.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

receiving the user request to access the encoded version of the initial document; and

providing the encoded version of the initial document to the user.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising desensitizing the enhanced document to remove sensitive user information prior to rendering the enhanced document.

12 . A document creation system comprising:

at least one processor; and

a memory in communication with the at least one processor, the memory having instructions stored thereon,

wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to:

present a user with a document creation platform;

receive, at the document creation platform, information from the user;

create, using the document creation platform, an initial document based on the information from the user;

receive a request from the user to export the initial document in a user-specified file format;

in response to the request, encode content of the initial document in accordance with a defined document schema to create an enhanced document, wherein the enhanced document comprises a structured document containing the encoded content;

store the encoded content in association with a document identifier;

embed the document identifier as non-visible metadata within the enhanced document; and

render the enhanced document in the user-specified file format.

13 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

receive a second request from a document parsing system, the request containing the document identifier; and

transmit, in response to the second request, the encoded content to the document parsing system.

14 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to configured to execute the instructions to:

translate the structured document from the defined document schema into a standardized document schema to form a translated document; and

store the translated document in association with the document identifier.

15 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to configured to execute the instructions to provide the user with a set of fillable form elements, wherein the information from the user is based on the user completing the set of fillable form elements.

16 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to configured to execute the instructions to:

receive, from the user, an uploaded graphical element; and

add the uploaded graphical element to the initial document prior to encoding the content of the initial document.

17 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to:

provide, via the document creation platform, a tool to generate a graphical element;

receive, via the tool, one or more user inputs associated with user attributes;

generate the graphical element based on the one or more user inputs; and

add the graphical element to the initial document prior to encoding the content of the initial document.

18 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to present the user with one or more document templates.

19 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the enhanced document is rendered according to a skin retrieved from a skin database.

20 . The document creation system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to:

detect a user interaction comprising a user request to save the initial document; and

in response to detecting the user interaction, encode the content of the initial document to generate an encoded version of the initial document; and

store the encoded version of the initial document in association with a unique document identifier.
