Abstract

A B-side component of a two component low pressure polyurethane foam, the B-side component includes: a fluoride ion scavenger; one or more polyols consisting of all polyether polyols and, if the fluoride ion scavenger is a polyol, the fluoride ion scavenger, and no polyester polyols; at least one silicone polyether surfactant; at least one flame retardant and/or plasticizer; a catalyst package comprising an amine catalyst; and an HFO propellant consisting of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and no other HFO propellant. Water is in an amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side.

Claims (45)

1 . A B-side component of a two component low pressure polyurethane foam, the B-side component comprising:

a fluoride ion scavenger;

one or more polyols consisting of all polyether polyols and, if the fluoride ion scavenger is a polyol, the fluoride ion scavenger, and no polyester polyols;

at least one silicone polyether surfactant;

at least one flame retardant and/or plasticizer;

a catalyst package comprising an amine catalyst; and

an HFO propellant consisting of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and no other HFO propellant,

wherein water is in an amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side.

2 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein the one or more polyether polyols are at least 35% by weight of the B-side.

3 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein the one or more polyether polyols comprise at least one oxypropylated triol and at least one propylene oxide diol.

4 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein the fluoride ion scavenger comprises glycerin ranging from approximately 1.0 to 8.0% by weight of the B-side.

5 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein the at least one flame retardant and/or plasticizer comprises a phosphate-ester flame retardant plasticizer.

6 . The B-side component of claim 5 , wherein the phosphate-ester flame retardant plasticizer comprises tris(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate.

7 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein the amine catalyst is a tertiary amine catalyst, and wherein the catalyst package further comprises an organotin catalyst.

8 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein a catalytic decay ratio (gel) is less than 1.5 and a catalytic decay ratio (tack-free) is less than 1.5 after storage of the B-side component for at least six months.

9 . The B-side component of claim 8 , wherein the catalytic decay ratio (gel) is less than 1.5 and the catalytic decay ratio (tack-free) is less than 1.5 after storage of the B-side component for at least twelve months.

10 . The B-side component of claim 1 , wherein water in the amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side is 0% by weight of the B-side.

11 . The B-side component of claim 1 , further comprising:

an aliphatic diol chain extender having a molecular weight ranging from approximately 90 to 1,500 g/mol and in an amount ranging from approximately 1.0 to 15.0% by weight of the B-side.

12 . The B-side component of claim 1 , further comprising:

an inert pressurant that is selected from the group consisting of nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

13 . A B-side component of a two component low pressure polyurethane foam, the B-side component comprising:

an HFO propellant consisting of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and no other HFO propellant glycerin as a fluoride-ion scavenger;

one or more polyether polyols and no polyester polyols;

at least one silicone polyether surfactant;

at least one flame retardant and/or plasticizer; and

a catalyst package comprising an amine catalyst,

wherein the B-side component exhibits a catalytic decay ratio (gel) of less than 1.5 and a catalytic decay ratio (tack-free) of less than 1.5 after storage of the B-side component for at least twelve months, and

wherein water is an amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side.

14 . The B-side component of claim 13 , wherein water in the amount of less than 1% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side is 0% by weight of the B-side prior to inclusion of the HFO propellant at the B-side.

15 . The B-side component of claim 13 , wherein the at least one flame retardant and/or plasticizer comprises a phosphate-ester flame retardant plasticizer.

16 . The B-side component of claim 13 , wherein the catalyst package is free of any organotin catalyst.

17 . A two-component low-pressure polyurethane foam kit, the kit comprising:

an A-side component comprising at least one diisocyanate; and
