PAYMENT VEHICLE WITH ON AND OFF FUNCTION
A computer system and method for enabling or disabling a payment vehicle at the request of a payment card holder from a remote device. The computer system comprises a computer having memory and a processor for processing input data received from a remote device. The input data comprises an instruction executable by the processor in a form of a text message or electronic mail received from the remote device, with the instruction to enable or disable a payment card of a payment card holder by changing the status of the payment card. An interactive remote interface computer software application is provided to the payment card holder for use on the remote or other device.
1 . A computing system comprising:
a processor; and
a non-transitory memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the computing system to:
receive, from a remote device over a network, login data comprising a user credential associated with a user account of a user;
authenticate the user by verifying the login data grants access to the user account;
in response to authenticating the user, transmit, to the remote device, data identifying a plurality of payment vehicles associated with the user account and, for each payment vehicle, a status value indicating whether the payment vehicle is enabled for predefined transactions, the data being sufficient to enable the remote device to present a user interface displaying the payment vehicles and their respective statuses;
receive, from the remote device, a request to change a status of a selected payment vehicle;
update, according to the request, a status record for the selected payment vehicle in a database accessible to a computer payment network, the status record indicating whether the selected payment vehicle is enabled or disabled for predefined transactions; and
cause the remote device to update the user interface to visually reflect the new status of the selected payment vehicle.
2 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the request to change the status of the selected payment vehicle is based on a user selection of a graphical icon in the user interface corresponding to the selected payment vehicle.
3 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the data identifying the plurality of payment vehicles comprises data related to payment vehicles issued by different financial institutions.
4 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the user interface further displays a graphical indicator of location awareness associated with the remote device.
5 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the computing system to transmit to the user an electronic message comprising a temporary code to authenticate the user.
6 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the computing system to transmit, to at least one of the remote device or a second computing device associated with the user, an electronic message comprising a temporary code.
7 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein, when the status record indicates the selected payment vehicle is disabled, the computer payment network is configured to decline a transaction authorization request involving the selected payment vehicle.
8 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein, when the status record indicates the selected payment vehicle is enabled, the computer payment network is configured to process a transaction authorization request involving the selected payment vehicle by verifying fraud status or funds availability.
9 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the request to change the status of the selected payment vehicle comprises a command to automatically disable the selected payment vehicle during a specific time period defined by the user.
10 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the request to change the status of the selected payment vehicle comprises a command to automatically disable the selected payment vehicle for transactions originating from a specific geographic region.
11 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the request to change the status of the selected payment vehicle comprises a command to automatically disable the selected payment vehicle for transactions associated with a specific merchant category code.
12 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is configured to display status values for multiple payment vehicles simultaneously.
13 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of payment vehicles comprises at least two of: a debit card, a credit card, a prepaid card, a stored value card, an automated teller machine card, an online banking account, an automated clearinghouse account, a wire transfer account, an online bill-pay account, or an internet payment account.
14 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the data identifying the plurality of payment vehicles further comprises balance information for at least one of the payment vehicles, and wherein the user interface displays the balance information.
15 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the request to change the status is a request to disable the selected payment vehicle, and wherein updating the status record is performed via a direct transaction call to a payment vehicle management system without human intervention.
16 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the login data comprises a password, and wherein the instructions further cause the computing system to verify a login timeout status prior to updating the status record.

The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the selected payment vehicle is selected from the group consisting of: a credit card, a debit card, a pre-paid card, a stored value card, and an online banking account 18 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is a mobile device, and the user interface comprises a mobile application.
19 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a computing system from a remote device over a network, login data comprising a user credential associated with a user account of a user;
authenticating, by the computing system, the user by verifying the login data grants access to the user account;
in response to authenticating the user, transmitting, by the computing system to the remote device, data identifying one or more payment vehicles associated with the user account and, for each payment vehicle, a status value indicating whether the payment vehicle is enabled for predefined transactions, the data being sufficient to enable the remote device to present a user interface displaying the payment vehicles and their respective statuses;
receiving, by the computing system from the remote device, a request to change a status of a selected payment vehicle;
updating, by the computing system according to the request, a status record for the selected payment vehicle in a database accessible to a computer payment network, the status record indicating whether the selected payment vehicle is enabled or disabled for predefined transactions; and
causing, by the computing system, the remote device to update the user interface to visually reflect the new status of the selected payment vehicle.
20 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computing system, cause the computing system to:
receive, from a remote device over a network, login data comprising a user credential associated with a user account of a user;
authenticate the user by verifying the login data grants access to the user account;
in response to authenticating the user, transmit, to the remote device, data identifying one or more payment vehicles associated with the user account and, for each payment vehicle, a status value indicating whether the payment vehicle is enabled for predefined transactions, the data being sufficient to enable the remote device to present a user interface displaying the payment vehicles and their respective statuses;
receive, from the remote device, a request to change a status of a selected payment vehicle;
update, according to the request, a status record for the selected payment vehicle in a database accessible to a computer payment network, the status record indicating whether the selected payment vehicle is enabled or disabled for predefined transactions; and
cause the remote device to update the user interface to visually reflect the new status of the selected payment vehicle.
