Abstract

An electronic candle system includes a sealed electronic candle having a rechargeable power source, a multi-color light source configured to simulate a flame, and a wireless transceiver for communication with external devices and other electronic candles. Control logic receives and modifies operating parameters including color, brightness, and flicker rate based on environmental conditions and learned usage patterns. In certain embodiments, the electronic candle participates in a mesh network and may propagate configuration data to other candles or operate as a master device. The electronic candle may further provide non-illumination services including payment processing, wireless device charging, network extension, and customer service signaling. Additional embodiments include deformable polymer wick structures for dynamic flame simulation and removable decorative covers for aesthetic customization. Systems and methods enable coordinated lighting effects, adaptive behavior, and multifunction operation suitable for hospitality, commercial, and residential environments.

Claims (50)

1 . An electronic candle, comprising:

a sealed housing configured to simulate a wax candle;

a rechargeable power source disposed within the housing;

a power source disposed within the housing;

at least one multi-color light source configured to simulate a flame;

a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with at least one external device; and

control logic configured to:

(i) receive operating parameters including at least one of color, brightness, or flicker rate,

(ii) automatically modify the operating parameters based on detected environmental conditions, and

(iii) propagate the operating parameters to one or more additional electronic candles via a wireless mesh network.

2 . The electronic candle of claim 1 , wherein the environmental conditions include at least one of ambient light level, sound level, motion, temperature, or proximity.

3 . The electronic candle of claim 1 , wherein the control logic is configured to learn historical usage patterns and automatically adjust the operating parameters based on the learned patterns.

4 . The electronic candle of claim 1 , wherein the housing is hermetically sealed to permit washing or liquid submersion.

5 . The electronic candle of claim 1 , further comprising a buoyancy control system configured to selectively cause the electronic candle to float, hover, or sink in liquid.

6 . A multifunction electronic candle system, comprising:

an electronic candle including:

a rechargeable battery,

a simulated flame light source, and

a wireless communication module; and

a user interface integrated with the electronic candle and configured to perform at least one non-illumination service selected from:

(a) payment processing,

(b) wireless device charging,

(c) network extension, or

(d) customer service signaling.

7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the user interface includes a contactless payment reader.

8 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the electronic candle includes an inductive charging surface configured to wirelessly charge a mobile device.

9 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the wireless communication module is configured to operate as a Wi-Fi extender.

10 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the user interface includes a selectable indicator configured to signal a service request from a patron at a table.

11 . A coordinated electronic candle network, comprising:

a plurality of electronic candles each including a transceiver and light source;

wherein at least one electronic candle is designated as a master candle; and

wherein the master candle is configured to wirelessly distribute lighting configuration data to the plurality of electronic candles to produce a coordinated lighting effect.

12 . The network of claim 11 , wherein the coordinated lighting effect comprises a wave pattern across the plurality of electronic candles.

13 . The network of claim 11 , wherein the master candle receives configuration data from a mobile application.

14 . The network of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of electronic candles automatically associate based on proximity.

15 . An electronic candle, comprising:

a light source;

a deformable polymer wick positioned to receive light from the light source; and

control logic configured to vary illumination of the light source to cause physical deformation of the polymer wick to simulate flame movement.

16 . The electronic candle of claim 15 , wherein the polymer wick comprises an azobenzene-containing liquid crystal elastomer.

17 . The electronic candle of claim 15 , wherein the wick includes asymmetrical deformations configured to refract light.

18 . The electronic candle of claim 15 , further comprising a vapor generator configured to emit illuminated mist to simulate a flame.

19 . An electronic candle assembly, comprising:

an electronic candle body; and

a removable decorative cover configured to be selectively attached to the electronic candle body using at least one of:

magnetic coupling,

adhesive coupling,

sleeve engagement, or

spring-biased retention.

20 . The assembly of claim 19 , wherein the decorative cover includes a user-customizable pattern.
