Electronic transfer moieties attached to peptide nucleic acids
The invention relates to nucleic acids covalently coupled to electrodes via conductive oligomers. More particularly, the invention is directed to the site-selective modification of nucleic acids with electron transfer moieties and electrodes to produce a new class of biomaterials, and to methods of making and using them.
1. A peptide nucleic acid comprising at least one monomeric subunit having the formula:
wherein ETM is an electron transfer moiety.
2. A peptide nucleic acid comprising at least one monomeric subunit having the formula:
wherein ETM is an electron transfer moiety.
3. A composition according to claim 1 or 2 wherein said monomeric subunit is an internal subunit.
4. A composition according to claim 1 or 2 wherein said electron transfer moiety is an electrode and said linker is a conductive oligomer.
5. A composition according to claim 1 or 2 wherein said electron transfer moiety is a transition metal complex.
6. A composition according to claim 5 wherein said transition metal complex is a metallocene.
7. A composition according to claim 6 wherein said metallocene is a ferrocene.
