Abstract

The present invention is directed to novel polypeptides and to nucleic acid molecules encoding those polypeptides. Also provided herein are vectors and host cells comprising those nucleic acid sequences, chimeric polypeptide molecules comprising the polypeptides of the present invention fused to heterologous polypeptide sequences, antibodies which bind to the polypeptides of the present invention and to methods for producing the polypeptides of the present invention.

Claims (10)

1. A method for the diagnosis of esophageal or rectal cancer comprising: (a) identifying a patient suspected of having esophageal or rectal cancer; and (b) detecting expression of a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:70 in a test sample from said patient, wherein lower expression of said polypeptide in said test sample as compared to a normal control sample indicates the presence of esophageal or rectal cancer, wherein the test sample and control sample are from the esophagus or wherein the test sample and control sample are from the rectum.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the test sample and control sample are from the esophagus.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the test sample and control sample are tissue from the rectum.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said test sample comprises a culturcd cell line cultured cells, primary tumor, tissue, or cells.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein expression of a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:70 in said test sample is detected using an antibody which specifically binds to the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 70.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein said antibody is detectably labeled.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein said antibody is a humanized antibody.

9. The method of claim 6 , wherein said antibody is an antibody fragment.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the antibody fragment is selected from the group consisting of Fv, Fab, Fab′, and F(ab′)2 fragments.
