Abstract

A system for applying hair extensions to natural hair growing on the scalp of an individual comprises cylindrical tubes, a threading tool and a crimping tool. The cylindrical tube has a second end opening larger than a first end opening. The threading tool is used to feed scalp hair through the cylindrical tube. The hair extension is then inserted into the second end of the tube and the tube is crushed flat trapping the threaded scalp hair and hair extension within the crushed structure.

Claims (6)

1. An attachment system for applying hair extensions to scalp hair, the attachment system comprising hair extensions, each hair extension comprising a bundle of multiple strands of natural or synthetic hair with an attachment end thereof bound into a pliable polymer insertable plug comprising a water soluble or water swellable polymer coating the attachment end of the multiple strands of natural or synthetic hair, one or more tubular receiving receptacles, wherein each of said tubular receiving receptacles having a first open end and a second open end, a flattening tool and a threading tool for pulling the scalp hair into a first open end of the hair receiving receptacle and out through a second open end of the tubular receiving receptacle, said second open end having a diameter greater than the first open end, the second open end sized to receive the insertable plug of the hair extension and the scalp hair bundle and the first open end sized to receive a bundle of hair attached to the scalp and the threading tool.

2. The attachment system of claim 1 wherein the combined volume of the insertable plug and bundle of hair attached to the scalp substantially fills a cross-sectional area of a lumen extending longitudinally at least partially through the tubular receiving receptacle.

3. The attachment system of claim 1 wherein the diameter of the second open end is greater than about 1.7 times a smallest inner diameter of the tubular receiving receptacle.

An attachment system for applying hair extensions to scalp hair, the attachment system comprising hair extensions, each hair extension comprising a bundle of multiple strands of natural or synthetic hair with one end thereof bound into an insertable plug comprising a water soluble or water swellable polymer coating on the end of the multiple strands of natural or synthetic hair, one or more tubular receiving receptacles having a lumen therethrough, wherein each of said tubular receiving receptacles having a first open end and a second open end, a threading tool for pulling the scalp hair into a first open end of the lumen in the hair receiving receptacle and out through a second open end of the lumen in the tubular receiving receptacle and a flattening tool, the tubular hair receiving receptacle comprising a compressible tube with an inner diameter of the second open end sized to receive the insertable plug of the hair extension and the bundle of scalp hair and the first open end having a smaller diameter than the second open end sized to receive the threading tool and a bundle of hair attached to the scalp.

5. The attachment system of claim 4 wherein the combined volume of the insertable plug and the hair attached to the scalp substantially fills a centrally located cross-sectional portion of the lumen extending longitudinally through the tubular receiving receptacle.

6. The attachment system of claim 4 wherein the size of the second open end is greater than about 1.7 times a smallest inner cross sectional dimension along the length of the lumen of the tubular receiving receptacle.
