Abstract

A solid sealing method of an organic EL display device is provided which effectively prevents influences of moisture and reduces manufacturing cost. A mother sealing sheet ( 400 ) and a mother element substrate ( 100 ) are adhered with a use of a positioning mark (+). A rectangular portion shown in a dotted line on the mother sealing sheet ( 400 ) is a separation line ( 41 ). An adhesive member is formed in the separation line ( 41 ), and the adhesive member is adhered to a display region ( 101 ) formed over the mother element substrate ( 100 ). A cut-out is formed at a corner portion and a short side portion of the rectangular separation line ( 41 ) and a cut-out and a bridge are formed on the long side portion. Thus, unnecessary portion of the mother sealing sheet can be removed without losing the reliability of adhesion.

Claims (33)

1. A method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device which comprises an element substrate having a display region and a terminal portion and in which an adhesive member is formed covering the display region and a sealing sheet is adhered to the adhesive member, the method comprising:

positioning and adhering a mother sealing sheet in which a plurality of the sealing sheets are formed and a mother element substrate in which a plurality of the element substrates are formed, wherein a rectangular separation line is formed on the mother sealing sheet surrounding a portion over which the adhesive member is formed, a cut-out is formed at a corner portion of the rectangular separation line, and a perforation is formed on a long side and a short side of the rectangle;

forming a mother panel by removing, at the separation line, a portion which is not used as the sealing sheet in the organic electroluminescence display device; and

separating individual organic electroluminescence display device from the mother panel by detaching the mother sealing sheet in one direction.

2. The method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the mother sealing sheet comprises a resin.

3. A method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device which comprises an element substrate having a display region and a terminal portion and in which an adhesive member is formed covering the display region and a sealing sheet is adhered to the adhesive member, the method comprising:

positioning and adhering a mother sealing sheet in which a plurality of the sealing sheets are formed and a mother element substrate in which a plurality of the element substrates are formed, wherein a rectangular separation line is formed on the mother sealing sheet surrounding a portion over which the adhesive member is formed and a cut-out is formed at a corner portion and an overall short side portion of the rectangular separation line;

forming a mother panel by removing, at the separation line, a portion which is not used as the sealing sheet in the organic electroluminescence display device; and

separating individual organic electroluminescence display device from the mother panel by detaching the mother sealing sheet in one direction.

4. The method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 3 , wherein

a perforation is formed on a long side of the rectangular separation line.

5. The method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 3 , wherein

a cut-out portion and a bridge portion are alternately formed on a long side of the rectangular separation line.

6. A method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 3 , wherein

a cut-out portion and a bridge portion are alternately formed on a long side of the rectangular separation line, and

ratios of the cut-out portion and the bridge portion are such that the ratio of the cut-out portion is increased at positions nearer to the corner portion of the rectangle.

7. The method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 3 , wherein

the bridge portion and the cut-out portion have thicknesses which are thinner than thicknesses in other portions of the sealing sheet.

8. An organic electroluminescence display device which comprises a rectangular element substrate having a display region and a terminal portion and in which an adhesive member is formed covering the display region and a rectangular sealing sheet is adhered to the adhesive member, wherein

the sealing sheet has a cutting surface at, a corner portion, and a breaking surface is formed on the short side portion and the long side portion, and

the length along a short side direction at the corner portion of the sealing sheet is shorter than the length along the short side direction at an other portion of the sealing sheet.

9. The organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 8 , wherein

the breaking surface is formed by removing the unnecessary portion of the mother sealing sheet after adhering the sealing sheet formed in the mother sealing sheet and the element substrate.

10. An organic electroluminescence display device which comprises a rectangular element substrate having a display region and a terminal portion and in which an adhesive member is formed covering the display region and a rectangular sealing sheet is adhered to the adhesive member, wherein

the sealing sheet has a cutting surface at a corner portion and an overall short side portion, and a breaking surface and a cutting surface are alternately formed on a long side portion, and

the length along a short side direction at the cutting surface of the sealing sheet is shorter than the length along the short side direction at the breaking surface of the sealing sheet.

11. The organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 10 , wherein

ratios of the cutting surface and the breaking surface at the long side portion of the sealing sheet are such that the ratio of the cutting surface is greater than the ratio of the breaking surface at positions nearer to the corner portion of the rectangle than a center portion of the long side.

12. The organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 11 , wherein

the breaking surface and the cutting surface at the long side portion of the sealing sheet have thicknesses which are thinner than thicknesses of other portions of the sealing sheet.

13. The organic electroluminescence display device according to claim 10 , wherein

the breaking surface is formed by removing the unnecessary portion of the mother sealing sheet after adhering the sealing sheet formed in the mother sealing sheet and the element substrate.
