Abstract

A method, system, Web-environment and computer program product for automatically generating proxies and meta-proxies for script code in an HTML document. The invention preferably operates with a system that allows for JavaScript to be utilized on the server-side.

Claims (16)

1. A method for automatically generating proxies, the method comprising:

identifying a first code of an HTML document on a server, wherein the HTML document is callable from a client, wherein the first code is configured to be executed on the server;

automatically removing the first code from the HTML document; and

injecting into the HTML document a proxy code with a designation corresponding to a designation of the first code, wherein the proxy code is configured to allow a call from the client to request execution of the first code on the server.

2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the proxy code is configured to accept one or more inputs which correspond to respective one or more inputs of the first code.

3. The method according to claim 1 further comprising:

remotely calling the server with the proxy code;

verifying the call as originating from the HTML document;

locating the first code;

passing any inputs included in the call to the first code;

completing a function of the first code;

packaging any return data;

returning the any return data to the client to generate a return value from the proxy code.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the call comprises an asynchronous call.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the proxy code is configured to allow the call from the client to request execution of the first code on the server without reloading the HTML document on the client.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the call comprises an XMLHTTPRequest.
