Abstract

The invention relates to a method for changing rolls, in particular, working rolls ( 7, 8 ) and/or intermediate rolls in a roll stand, such as a roughing down stand or finishing stand for rolling thick sheet iron. Said rolls comprise back up roller sets ( 5, 6 ) and working roller sets ( 7, 8 ). One individual locomotive mechanism ( 9 ) is used for changing the working rolls ( 7, 8 ) and/or for changing the back up rolls ( 5, 6 ) and/or for inserting or withdrawing a roll changing seat ( 11 ) by supporting the rolls on each other and subsequently withdrawing in the axial direction of the rolls on the operational side of the roll stand, from a roll hall ( 1 ) in a roll workshop ( 2 ) and back and for installing novel roll sets. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method.

Claims (5)

1. A roll-changing pit ( 10 ), which connects a mill hall ( 1 ) with a roll workshop ( 2 ), such that a rolling stand ( 4 ) with work rolls and back-up rolls ( 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 ) is located in the mill hall ( 1 ); and such that a locomotive ( 9 ) can move in the roll-changing pit ( 10 ) in the axial direction of the work rolls and back-up rolls to transport used back-up rolls ( 5 , 6 ) or work rolls ( 7 , 8 ) out of the rolling stand ( 4 ) and into the roll workshop ( 2 ) or to transport new back-up rolls or work rolls from the roll workshop ( 2 ) to the rolling stand ( 4 ), wherein the roll-changing pit ( 10 ) has platforms ( 20 ) on its two edges ( 18 , 19 ) in its upper, wide region ( 17 ), such that the platforms are supported by a pivot and are pivoted downward into a horizontal position during the transport of the work rolls ( 7 , 8 ) and pivoted upward during the transport of the back-up rolls ( 5 , 6 ), and where the platforms ( 20 ), on which the work rolls are supported, also form a track foundation for a roll-changing frame for the back-up rolls, have guide rails ( 21 ) on their upper sides and the platforms are separated by a certain clear distance when pivoted downward in the horizontal position.

2. A device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the locomotive ( 9 ) has a coupling device ( 14 ) on its upper side ( 13 ), such that the distance between the platforms ( 20 ) allows the coupling device ( 14 ) to pass between the platforms ( 20 ).

3. A roll-changing pit in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the coupling device ( 14 ) is designed as a bayonet catch.

4. A roll-changing pit in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the roll-changing pit ( 10 ) is divided into a lower, narrow region ( 16 ) and an upper, wide region ( 17 ) where the lower, narrow region ( 16 ) is wider than the locomotive ( 9 ).

5. A roll-changing pit in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the platforms ( 20 ) are constructed as welded steel structures and are supported laterally on a foundation ( 11 ) in order to receive a load.
