Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for providing non-disruptive transitioning of application replication configurations and proactive analysis of possible error scenarios. Specifically, under embodiments of the present invention, a common integration model (CIM)-compatible representation of a system replication plan is provided in a computer data structure. Based on the representation, a hierarchical tree data structure having a set of nodes is created. A set of system configuration updates pertaining to the set of nodes are then classified (e.g., based upon the type of configuration update). Once the set of nodes has been classified, the set of nodes may then be analyzed to determine if any nodes of the set are isomorphic. If so, the plan can be modified accordingly. In any event, the replication plan (or modified replication plan) may then be implemented.

Claims (41)

a processor coupled to the bus; and

a memory medium coupled to the bus, the memory medium comprising instructions to:

provide a representation of a replication plan in a computer data structure;

create a hierarchical tree data structure having a set of nodes based on the representation;

classify a set of system configuration updates pertaining to the set of nodes;

analyze the set of nodes to determine if any of the set of nodes is isomorphic; and

perform an error analysis based in the replication plan responsive to the analyzing;

wherein the set of nodes comprises: a root node corresponding to an application, and a set of child nodes corresponding to a set of storage volumes.

9. The system of claim 8 , the representation being a common integration model (CIM)-compatible representation.

10. The system of claim 8 , the set of configuration updates being classified based upon a type of update.
