A golf ball includes a spherical core and a cover covering the spherical core, wherein the cover is formed from a polyurethane composition containing a polyurethane elastomer as a resin component, the polyurethane composition has a shear loss modulus G″ of more than 5.03×10 6 Pa and 1.17×10 8 Pa or less when measured in a shear mode using a dynamic viscoelasticity measuring apparatus at the conditions of the temperature of 0° C., and the oscillation frequency of 10 Hz, the golf ball has a hardness distribution that R 2 of a linear approximate curve determined by a least-squares method is 0.95 or more, when plotting center hardness (JIS-C) of the spherical core, hardness (JIS-C) measured at intervals of 2.5 mm from the center of the spherical core, surface hardness (JIS-C) of the spherical core, and slab hardness (JIS-C) of the cover versus distances from the center of the spherical core.
1. A golf ball comprising a spherical core and a cover covering the spherical core,
wherein the cover is formed from a polyurethane composition containing a polyurethane elastomer as a resin component, the polyurethane elastomer is formed by using 1,4-bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane as a polyisocyanate component, and the polyurethane composition has a shear loss modulus G″ of more than 5.03×10 6 Pa and 1.17×10 8 Pa or less when measured in a shear mode using a dynamic viscoelasticity measuring apparatus under conditions including a temperature of 0° C., and an oscillation frequency of 10 Hz, and
wherein the golf ball has a hardness distribution such that R 2 of a linear approximate curve determined by the least-squares method is 0.95 or more, if the core center hardness (JIS-C), the core hardness (JIS-C) measured at intervals of 2.5 mm progressively away from the core center, the core surface hardness (JIS-C), and the slab hardness (JIS-C) of the cover surface are plotted versus distances from the core center to the surface of the golf ball.
2. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the resin component of the polyurethane composition contains the polyurethane elastomer in a content of 50 mass % or more.
3. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the resin component of the polyurethane composition contains the polyurethane elastomer in a content of 70 mass % or more.
4. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the resin component of the polyurethane composition consists of the polyurethane elastomer.
5. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the 1,4-bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane contains a trans isomer in a content of 80 mole % or more.
6. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the polyurethane composition has a shear loss modulus G″ of 8.83×10 7 Pa or less.
7. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the polyurethane composition has a slab hardness ranging from 50 to 65 in Shore D hardness.
8. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the polyurethane composition has rebound resilience of 39% or more.
9. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the cover has a thickness ranging from 0.3 mm to 4.0 mm.
10. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the golf ball has a compression deformation amount (shrinking amount in a compression direction) ranging from 2.0 mm to 4.0 mm, when applying a load from 98 N as an initial load to 1275 N as a final load to the golf ball.
11. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the spherical core has a hardness difference ranging from 15 to 50 in JIS-C hardness between a surface hardness Hs and a center hardness Ho thereof.
12. The golf ball according to claim 1 , wherein the spherical core is formed from a rubber composition containing (a) a base rubber, (b) an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 8 carbon atoms and/or a metal salt thereof as a co-crosslinking agent, (c) a crosslinking initiator, (d) a carboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, provided that the rubber composition further contains (f) a metal compound in the case of containing only (b) the α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 8 carbon atoms as the co-crosslinking agent.
13. The golf ball according to claim 12 , wherein (d) the carboxylic acid and/or the salt thereof is a fatty acid and/or a fatty acid salt.
14. The golf ball according to claim 12 , wherein (d) the carboxylic acid and/or the salt thereof is a carboxylic acid having 4 to 30 carbon atoms and/or a salt thereof.
15. The golf ball according to claim 12 , wherein the rubber composition contains (d) the carboxylic acid and/or the salt thereof in a content ranging from 0.5 part by mass to 40 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of (a) the base rubber.
