Abstract

Methods and apparatuses for athletic training optimization are disclosed. In one example, a fitness level change is identified. In one example, a current training intensity is updated to reflect an updated user fitness level.

Claims (47)

1. A method comprising:

monitoring a heart rate of a user and a pace of the user during an athletic activity, the heart rate monitored utilizing a heart rate monitor device and the pace monitored utilizing a speed sensor device;

prompting the user at a device user interface during the athletic activity to maintain the heart rate within a target user heart rate range corresponding to a workout type;

electronically determining an average pace and an average heart rate for the athletic activity following completion of the athletic activity; and

electronically setting a training pace for the workout type to the average pace if the average heart rate is within the target user heart rate range.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising configuring the athletic activity with one or more target parameters prior to a user starting the athletic activity, the one or more target parameters comprising a time duration appropriate for the workout type.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the workout type is a lactate threshold run, an easy run, or a marathon pace run.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the target user heart rate range is determined utilizing a user maximum heart rate.

5. A system comprising:

one or more processors;

a user interface;

an interface configured to receive a heart rate data output from a heart rate monitor;

a navigation system configured to monitor a user navigation data comprising user location data and a user pace data; and

one or more computer readable storage media storing one or more application programs comprising instructions executable by the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

monitoring a user heart rate during an athletic activity utilizing the heart rate data output from the heart rate monitor;

monitoring a user pace during the athletic activity with the navigation system;

outputting a plurality of prompts at the user interface during the athletic activity, the plurality of prompts configured utilizing a stored user data to assist a user in achieving a target heart rate;

determining an average pace of the athletic activity and an average heart rate of the athletic activity;

determining that the average heart rate satisfies the target heart rate; and

setting a training pace to the average pace following determining that the average heart rate satisfies the target heart rate.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the target heart rate comprises a user heart rate range corresponding to a workout type.

7. The system of claim 5 , wherein the stored user data comprises a user prior completed athletic activity data.

8. The system of claim 5 , wherein the target heart rate is determined by utilizing a user maximum heart rate.

9. The system of claim 5 , wherein the training pace is for a workout type comprising a lactate threshold run, an easy run, or a marathon pace run.

10. The system of claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise determining a second training pace utilizing the training pace.

11. The system of claim 5 , wherein the training pace comprises a lactate threshold pace or a marathon pace.

12. The system of claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise:

storing the training pace in the one or more computer readable storage media;

retrieving the training pace from the one or more computer readable storage media; and

outputting a subsequent plurality of prompts at the user interface during a subsequent athletic activity, the plurality of prompts configured to assist the user in achieving the training pace.

13. One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions stored thereon which, when executed by one or more computers, cause the one more computers to perform operations comprising:

determining a user heart rate range corresponding to a workout type;

monitoring a heart rate and a pace of a user during an athletic activity;

prompting the user at a device user interface during the athletic activity to maintain the heart rate within the user heart rate range;

determining an average pace and an average heart rate for the athletic activity following completion of the athletic activity;

determining whether the average heart rate is within the user heart rate range corresponding to the workout type; and

setting a training pace for the workout type to the average pace if the average heart rate is within the user heart rate range.

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise configuring the athletic activity with one or more target parameters prior to a user starting the athletic activity, wherein the one or more target parameters comprise a time duration.

15. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 13 , wherein the workout type is a lactate threshold run, an easy run, or a marathon pace run.

16. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise determining a second training pace for a second workout type utilizing the training pace for the workout type.

17. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

prompting the user to perform a second athletic activity at the training pace previously set to the average pace.

18. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:

determining an average user heart rate for the second athletic activity; and

determining whether the average user heart rate for the second athletic activity falls within the user heart rate range.

19. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 17 , wherein the second athletic activity is included in a training plan comprising workouts to be performed by the user.

20. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 13 , wherein determining the user heart rate range corresponding to the workout type comprises utilizing a user maximum heart rate.
