Abstract

A tab system including a tab for attachment to a component, the tab having a display portion proximate to a first edge of the tab and a pair of attachment portions. Each attachment portion is located on a corner of the tab along a second edge opposite from the first edge. Each attachment portion includes curved or angled, generally parallel upper and lower edges, or, alternately each attachment portion includes a pair of generally parallel, spaced-apart outwardly-extending legs.

Claims (50)

1. A tab-supplying page system comprising:

a sheet of material having a plurality of edges;

at least one hole proximate one of the plurality of edges for receiving a portion of a binding device there through; and

at least one tab element formed in said sheet and cut only partially from said sheet and configured to be separated from a remainder of the sheet material to form a discrete tab, the discrete tab comprising:

a display portion proximate to a first edge of the discrete tab; and

a pair of attachment portions, each attachment portion being located along a side of the discrete tab or on a corner of the discrete tab;

wherein the discrete tab is configured to be removably coupled to different positions along an edge of a divider, pocket, or folder.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising said binding device including a three-ringer binder or a coil binder.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the sheet of material is a divider configured to be secured to the binding device.

4. The system of claim 3 wherein the sheet of material further comprises a pair of spaced, parallel slots, wherein each attachment portion is configured to be received in one of said slots to removably couple said discrete tab to said divider.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein each attachment portion includes curved upper and lower edges having a spacing therebetween such that each attachment portion may be pivoted to introduce said attachment portion into, or remove each attachment portion from, an associated slot.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein each attachment portion includes a pair of spaced-apart outwardly extending legs, wherein each attachment portion has a height greater than a height of an associated slot such that said legs of each attachment portion are moved closer together as each attachment portion is inserted into an associated slot.

7. The tab-supplying page system of claim 1 wherein the discrete tab is configured to be attached to the divider, pocket, or folder via the pair of attachment portions being inserted into slots of the divider, pocket, or folder thereby releasably securing the discrete tab to and from the divider, pocket, or folder.

8. The tab-supplying page system of claim 1 wherein the discrete tab further comprises a pair of relief cuts disposed between the display portion and the attachment portion of the discrete tab.

9. A tabbed divider system, comprising:

a binding device;

at least one divider page bound to said binding device and including:

a sheet of material having a bound edge and a free edge,

at least one hole proximate to the bound edge for receiving at least part of a binding device therethrough; and

at least one pair of slots proximate to the divider free edge; and

at least one tab-supplying page bound to said binding device and including at least one tab element formed therein, and cut only partially from a remainder of the tab-supplying page and configured to be separated from the remainder of the tab-supplying page to form a discrete tab, wherein the discrete tab includes a display portion and a pair of attachment portions having a pair of relief cuts therebetween, and wherein the attachment portions are configured to fit into said pair of slots.

10. The tabbed divider system of claim 9 wherein the attachment portions of the discrete tab include at least one of wings or outwardly extending legs.

11. The tabbed divider system of claim 9 wherein the at least one divider page further comprises an array of slots disposed along at least a portion of two free edges of the at least one divider page.

12. The system of claim 9 wherein each attachment portion includes curved upper and lower edges having a spacing therebetween such that each attachment portion may be pivoted to introduce said attachment portion into, or remove each attachment portion from, an associated slot.

13. The system of claim 9 wherein each attachment portion includes a pair of spaced-apart outwardly extending legs, wherein each attachment portion has a height greater than a height of an associated slot such that said legs of each attachment portion are moved closer together as each attachment portion is inserted into an associated slot.

14. A tabbed divider system, comprising:

at least one divider page having a plurality of edges, the divider page having at least one hole proximate to a first one of the plurality of edges, wherein the at least one hole is configured to receive a portion of a binding device and at least one pair of slots proximate a second one of the plurality of edges; and

at least one tab-supplying page including at least one tab element formed therein, and cut only partially from a remainder of the tab-supplying page and configured to be separated from the remainder of the tab-supplying page to form a discrete tab, wherein the discrete tab includes a display portion and a pair of attachment portions, and wherein the attachment portions are configured to fit into the pair of slots of the at least one divider page.

15. The tabbed divider system of claim 14 further comprising a binding device and the at least one divider page and the at least one tab-supplying page being bound to the binding device.

16. The tabbed divider system of claim 14 wherein the at least one divider page further includes a plurality of slots disposed along at least two of the plurality of edges.

17. The tabbed divider system of claim 14 wherein the first one of the plurality of edges and the second one of the plurality of edges are disposed opposite one another.

18. The tabbed divider system of claim 14 wherein the attachment portions of the discrete tab include at least one of wings or outwardly extending legs.

19. The tabbed divider system of claim 14 wherein the discrete tab further comprises a pair of relief cuts disposed between the display portion and the attachment portions.

20. A system comprising:

a coil binding device;

at least one inset page bound to said coil binding device, the inset page including:

a sheet of material having a bound edge and a free edge,

at least one hole proximate to the bound edge for receiving at least a portion of the coil binding device therethrough; and

at least one tab formed in said sheet of material, the at least one tab only cut partially away from said sheet, the tab comprising:

a display portion; and

a pair of attachment portions, wherein the pair of attachment portions are configured to selectively secure the at least one tab to the system after completely separating the at least one tab from the inset page.

21. A bound assembly comprising:

a plurality of sheets each having a bound edge extending in a first direction, the plurality of sheets including an insert sheet;

the plurality of sheets each having at least one hole proximate the bound edge for receiving a portion of a binding device therethrough; and

at least one tab element formed in the insert sheet and cut only partially therefrom, the at least one tab element configured to be separated from a remainder of the insert sheet to form a discrete tab, the discrete tab comprising:

a display portion proximate to a first edge of the discrete tab; and

a pair of attachment portions proximate a second edge of the discrete tab;

wherein the discrete tab is configured to be removably coupled to different positions along an edge of the bound assembly via the attachment portions.

22. The bound assembly of claim 21 wherein the discrete tab further comprises a pair of relief cuts disposed between the display portion and the attachment portions.

23. The system of claim 20 wherein the at least one tab further comprises a pair of relief cuts disposed between the display portion and the attachment portions.
