Abstract

Automatic finding of online profiles of an entity location is disclosed. Reference location data for location attributes of an entity location are obtained. A search for a profile of the entity location on a source is performed using at least some of the obtained reference location data. One or more search results are obtained. A search result includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and corresponding search result location data. The search result is evaluated. Evaluating the search result includes normalizing the search result location data included with the search result and comparing the normalized search result location data against the reference location data. Based at least in part on the evaluation, it is determined whether the search result matches to a profile of the entity location on the source. In the event that the search result matches to a profile of the entity location on the source, the search result is provided as output.

Claims (42)

1. A system, comprising:

one or more processors configured to:

periodically access a link associated with a profile of an entity and obtain reputation data associated with the profile that is associated with the link;

detect a threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity; and

in response to detecting the threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity, fix the link at least in part by determining a replacement link, wherein determining the replacement link comprises:

obtaining reference location data for location attributes of the entity; and

performing a search for a corresponding profile of the entity on a source using at least some of the obtained reference location data, wherein the replacement link is determined based at least in part on the search; and

a memory coupled to the one or more processors and configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions.

2. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine a cause of a failure in accessing the link.

3. The system recited in claim 2 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine that the cause of the failure in accessing the link is a source associated with the link having gone down.

4. The system recited in claim 2 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine that the cause of the failure in accessing the link is the link having been modified by, or removed from, a source.

5. The system recited in claim 2 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine whether the cause of the failure is a recoverable error or a non-recoverable error.

6. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to:

determine, at least in part by performing a query, a plurality of entities associated with the link; and

for each entity in the plurality of entities, perform a search for a corresponding profile of a given entity using reference location data associated with the given entity.

7. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to:

add the link to a blacklist, wherein the blacklist is associated with a corresponding identifier of the entity;

in a subsequent search, receive the link as a result of the subsequent search; and

based at least in part on the link having been added to the blacklist, prevent the link from being further accessed.

8. A method, comprising:

periodically accessing a link associated with a profile of an entity and obtaining reputation data associated with the profile that is associated with the link;

detecting a threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity; and

in response to detecting the threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity, fixing the link at least in part by determining a replacement link, wherein determining the replacement link comprises:

obtaining reference location data for location attributes of the entity; and

performing a search for a corresponding profile of the entity on a source using at least some of the obtained reference location data, wherein the replacement link is determined based at least in part on the search.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining a cause of a failure in accessing the link.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining that the cause of the failure in accessing the link is a source associated with the link having gone down.

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining that the cause of the failure in accessing the link is the link having been modified by, or removed from, a source.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining whether the cause of the failure is a recoverable error or a non-recoverable error.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining, at least in part by performing a query, a plurality of entities associated with the link; and

for each entity in the plurality of entities, performing a search for a corresponding profile of a given entity using reference location data associated with the given entity.

14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

adding the link to a blacklist, wherein the blacklist is associated with a corresponding identifier of the entity;

in a subsequent search, receiving the link as a result of the subsequent search; and

based at least in part on the link having been added to the blacklist, preventing the link from being further accessed.

15. A computer program product embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

periodically accessing a link associated with a profile of an entity and obtaining reputation data associated with the profile that is associated with the link;

detecting a threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity; and

in response to detecting the threshold number of failures in accessing the link associated with the profile of the entity, fixing the link at least in part by determining a replacement link, wherein determining the replacement link comprises:

obtaining reference location data for location attributes of the entity; and

performing a search for a corresponding profile of the entity on a source using at least some of the obtained reference location data, wherein the replacement link is determined based at least in part on the search.
