Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X13N264 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X13N264 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X13N264 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X13N264, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X13N264 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X13N264 and methods of using maize variety X13N264 are disclosed.

Claims (20)

1. A seed of hybrid maize variety X13N264, produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH47SK, wherein representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH47SK have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12176 and NCMA Accession Number 202004009, respectively.

2. A plant or plant part of hybrid maize variety X13N264 grown from the seed of claim 1 , wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X13N264.

3. A method of producing the seed of claim 1 , the method comprising crossing a plant of variety PHV92 with a plant of variety PH47SK.

4. A seed of hybrid maize variety X13N264, produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH47SK, wherein representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH47SK have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12176 and NCMA Accession Number 202004009, respectively; further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the variety PHV92, the variety PH47SK, or both varieties PHV92 and PH47SK.

5. A seed of hybrid maize variety X13N264 further comprising a locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH47SK, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH47SK have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12176 and NCMA Accession Number 202004009, respectively and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics as maize variety X13M671 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

6. The hybrid maize variety X13N264 seed of claim 5 , wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

7. The hybrid maize variety X13N264 seed of claim 5 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

8. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising: isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid maize variety X13N264 seed of claim 5 .

9. A plant or plant part grown from the hybrid maize variety X13N264 seed of claim 5 , the plant part comprising at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X13N264 further comprising the locus conversion.

10. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising: producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .

11. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising: applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

12. A method for producing the hybrid maize variety X13N264 seed of claim 4 , the method comprising: crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH47SK, representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH47SK having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12176 and NCMA Accession Number 202004009, respectively, wherein at least one of the varieties PHV92 and PH47SK further comprises the transgene.

13. The seed of claim 4 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

14. The seed of claim 4 , wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

15. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising: isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 4 .

16. A plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 4 , the plant part comprising at least one hybrid maize variety X13N264 cell further comprising the transgene.

17. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising: isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

18. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising: producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

19. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising: crossing the maize plant or plant part of claim 16 with itself or with a different maize plant.

20. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .
