Abstract

Various analytics systems are disclosed. An analytics system is configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs. The analytics system comprises a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the analytics system to: receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of the surgical hubs; analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied; generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied; and transmit the control program update to the surgical hubs. The perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure. The control program update is configured to alter the manner in which the control programs operate the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure based on the operational behavior.

Claims (63)

1. An analytics system configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs, the analytics system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the analytics system to:

receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of the surgical hubs, wherein the perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure;

analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied;

generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied, the control program update configured to alter a manner in which the control programs operate the surgical hubs for the operational behavior; and

transmit the control program update to the surgical hubs;

wherein:

the perioperative data comprises procedural outcome data associated with the surgical procedure;

the operational behavior is a first operational behavior;

the perioperative data is further indicative of a second operational behavior; and

the update condition comprises whether the second operational behavior is more highly correlated to a positive procedural outcome than the first operational behavior.

2. The analytics system of claim 1 , wherein the update condition comprises whether a threshold percentage of the plurality of surgical hubs exhibit the operational behavior.

3. The analytics system of claim 1 , wherein the update condition comprises whether the operational behavior correlates to a threshold rate of positive procedural outcomes.

4. The analytics system of claim 1 , wherein the control program update is configured to provide an alert associated with the operational behavior.

5. An analytics system configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs, the analytics system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the analytics system to:

receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of the surgical hubs, wherein the perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure;

analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied;

generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied, the control program update configured to alter a manner in which the control programs operate the surgical hubs for the operational behavior; and

transmit the control program update to the surgical hubs;

wherein the control program update is configured to change a manually controlled function to a function controlled by the control programs.

6. An analytics system configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs, the analytics system comprising:

a control circuit configured to:

receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of the surgical hubs, wherein the perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure;

analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied;

generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied, the control program update configured to alter a manner in which the control programs operate the surgical hubs for the operational behavior; and

transmit the control program update to the surgical hubs;

wherein:

the perioperative data comprises procedural outcome data associated with the surgical procedure;

the operational behavior is a first operational behavior;

the perioperative data is further indicative of a second operational behavior; and

the update condition comprises whether the second operational behavior is more highly correlated to a positive procedural outcome than the first operational behavior.

7. The analytics system of claim 6 , wherein the update condition comprises whether a threshold percentage of the plurality of surgical hubs exhibit the operational behavior.

8. The analytics system of claim 6 , wherein the update condition comprises whether the operational behavior correlates to a threshold rate of positive procedural outcomes.

9. The analytics system of claim 6 , wherein the control program update is configured to provide an alert associated with the operational behavior.

10. An analytics system configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs, the analytics system comprising:

a control circuit configured to:

receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of the surgical hubs, wherein the perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hubs during a surgical procedure;

analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied;

generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied, the control program update configured to alter a manner in which the control programs operate the surgical hubs for the operational behavior; and

transmit the control program update to the surgical hubs;

wherein the control program update is configured to change a manually controlled function to a function controlled by the control programs.

11. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer readable instructions which, when executed, causes an analytics system to:

receive perioperative data indicative of an operational behavior of a surgical hub of a plurality of surgical hubs, wherein the perioperative data comprises data detected by the surgical hub during a surgical procedure;

analyze the perioperative data to determine whether an update condition is satisfied;

generate a control program update according to whether the update condition is satisfied, the control program update configured to alter a manner in which control programs operate the plurality of surgical hubs for the operational behavior; and

transmit the control program update to the plurality of surgical hubs;

wherein:

the perioperative data comprises procedural outcome data associated with the surgical procedure;

the operational behavior is a first operational behavior;

the perioperative data is further indicative of a second operational behavior; and

the update condition comprises whether the second operational behavior is more highly correlated to a positive procedural outcome than the first operational behavior.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the update condition comprises whether a threshold percentage of the plurality of surgical hubs exhibit the operational behavior.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the update condition comprises whether the operational behavior correlates to a threshold rate of positive procedural outcomes.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the control program update is configured to provide an alert associated with the operational behavior.

15. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer readable instructions which, when executed, causes an analytics system configured to communicably couple to a plurality of surgical hubs that are controlled by control programs to:
