Abstract

A method of performing a real-time non-inquiry electronic transaction is provided. The method includes receiving, by a paying bank computing system associated with a paying bank, a posting of a transaction from an account verification service, the transaction corresponding to a transfer of funds from the paying bank computing system to a depository computing system associated with a depository bank. The method further includes sending, by the paying bank computing system, an acknowledgement of the transaction to the account verification service, wherein the transaction is determined to be a non-inquiry transaction such that the transaction is posted at the depository bank computing system without performing an initial inquiry regarding the transaction at the account verification service.

Claims (35)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied therein that, when executed by a processor of a fund transfer system coupled to a first database storing a plurality of transactions wherein each transaction has an amount greater than a threshold amount, causes the processor to:

receive a transaction comprising an amount equaling an amount of funds to transfer;

determine if the amount of the transaction is less than or equal to the threshold;

based on determining that the amount of the transaction is less than or equal to the threshold, tokenize a paying account number of the transaction, updating a second database, and transmitting the transaction to a service along a real-time channel;

receive a notification that the transaction needs to be reversed;

reverse, based on receiving the notification, the transaction along the real-time channel, wherein reversing comprises detokenizing the paying account number of the transaction and updating the second database;

store the transaction in the first database if the amount is determined to be greater than the threshold;

determine that an interval of time has passed; and

upload, based on the determination that the interval of time has passed, the plurality of transactions from the first database to a depository bank computer system.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , further comprising instructions that cause the processor to determine a fraudulent transaction to be associated with the paying account number.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 2 , further comprising instructions that cause the processor to credit the paying account number associated with the fraudulent transaction by the amount equaling the amount of funds to transfer.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein reversing includes transmitting a confirmation of a credit returned to the paying account number associated with a fraudulent transaction.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the transaction comprises a type of the transfer, wherein the type of transfer is a mortgage payment.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the transaction comprises a type of the transfer, wherein the type of transfer is a wholesale deposit of a plurality of checks.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , further comprising instructions that cause the processor to determine that the transaction qualifies for a non-inquiry transaction protocol based on the amount of funds to transfer.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 7 , further comprising instructions that cause the processor to determine that the transaction qualifies for a non-inquiry transaction protocol based on the amount of funds to transfer being less than or equal to the threshold.

9. A fund transfer system comprising:

a first database storing a plurality of transactions wherein each transaction has an amount greater than a threshold amount;

a processor; and

a memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor causes the processor to perform the steps of:

receiving a transaction comprising an amount equaling an amount of funds to transfer;

determining if the amount of the transaction is less than or equal to the threshold;

based on determining that the amount of the transaction is less than or equal to the threshold, tokenizing a paying account number of the transaction, updating a second database, and transmitting the transaction to a service along a real-time channel;

receiving a notification that the transaction needs to be reversed;

reversing, based on receiving the notification, the transaction along the real-time channel, wherein reversing comprises detokenizing the paying account number of the transaction and updating the second database;

storing the transaction in the first database if the amount is determined to be greater than the threshold;

determining that an interval of time has passed; and

uploading, based on the determination that the interval of time has passed, the plurality of transactions from the first database to a depository bank computer system.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the memory further stores instructions that cause the processor to determine a fraudulent transaction to be associated with the paying account number.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the memory further stores instructions that cause the processor to credit the paying account number associated with the fraudulent transaction by the amount equaling the amount of funds to transfer.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein reversing includes transmitting a confirmation of a credit returned to the paying account number associated with a fraudulent transaction.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the transaction comprises a type of the transfer, wherein the type of transfer is a mortgage payment.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the transaction comprises a type of the transfer, wherein the type of transfer is a wholesale deposit of a plurality of checks.

15. The system of claim 9 , wherein the memory further stores instructions that cause the processor to determine that the transaction qualifies for a non-inquiry transaction protocol based on the amount of funds to transfer.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the memory further stores instructions that cause the processor to determine that the transaction qualifies for a non-inquiry transaction protocol based on the amount of funds to transfer being less than or equal to the threshold.
