Abstract

A system performs mobile biometric identification system enrollment using a known biometric. The system receives a digital representation of a first biometric for a person. Prior to using the digital representation of the first biometric to identify the person, the system compares a received digital representation of a second biometric for the person to known biometric data for the person. When the digital representation of the first biometric has been thus verified, the system is operative to identify the person using the digital representation of the first biometric.

Claims (34)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving an instruction, using at least one processor, to verify a digital representation of a first biometric for a person as associated with an identity of the person, the digital representation of the first biometric for the person previously unverified as associated with the identity of the person;

receiving, using the at least one processor, a digital representation of a second biometric for the person that corresponds to a different portion of a body than the digital representation of the first biometric for the person;

receiving, using the at least one processor, the digital representation of the first biometric for the person; and

upon using the at least one processor to determine that the digital representation of the second biometric for the person is verified as associated with the identity of the person, verify the digital representation of the first biometric for the person as associated with the identity of the person.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second biometric comprises at least one fingerprint.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first biometric comprises at least one iris.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first biometric comprises at least one retina.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first biometric comprises at least one facial image.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor receives the digital representation of the second biometric for the person prior to receiving the digital representation of the first biometric for the person.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the digital representation of the first biometric for the person to identify the person after verification.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving, using at least one processor, a digital representation of a first biometric for a person;

receiving, using the at least one processor, a digital representation of a second biometric for the person that corresponds to a different portion of a body than the digital representation of the first biometric for the person, the digital representation of the second biometric for the person unverified as associated with an identity of the person; and

verifying, using the at least one processor, the digital representation of the second biometric for the person as associated with the identity of the person based on a determination that the digital representation of the first biometric for the person is verified as associated with the identity of the person.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor receives an indication that an unverified biometric will be provided.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one processor receives the indication after receiving the first biometric for the person.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein:

the person is a first person; and

the at least one processor receives the indication from a second person.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor receives:

the digital representation of the first biometric for the person via a first biometric reader; and

the digital representation of the second biometric for the person via a second biometric reader.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first biometric reader and the second biometric reader are different types of biometric readers.

14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising monitoring the person while the digital representation of the first biometric for the person and the digital representation of the second biometric for the person are provided.

15. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor receives the determination that the digital representation of the first biometric for the person is verified as associated with the identity of the person via a communication unit.

16. A method, comprising:

receiving, using at least one processor, a digital representation of a first biometric for a person;

receiving, using the at least one processor, a digital representation of a second biometric for the person that corresponds to a different portion of a body than the digital representation of the first biometric for the person, the digital representation of the second biometric for the person unverified as associated with an identity of the person; and

upon using the at least one processor to determine that the digital representation of the first biometric for the person is verified as associated with the identity of the person, verifying the digital representation of the second biometric for the person as associated with the identity of the person.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising storing the digital representation of the second biometric for the person in association with the identity of the person for subsequent identification of the person.

18. The method of claim 16 , further comprising comparing the digital representation of the second biometric for the person with data from an identification token.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the data is associated with an image of at least a portion of the person.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the at least one processor determines that the digital representation of the second biometric is unverified after comparing the digital representation of the second biometric for the person with the data from the identification token.
