Abstract

A maize variety designated X08R659 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X08R659 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X08R659 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X08R659, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X08R659 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X08R659 and methods of using maize variety X08R659 are disclosed.

Claims (20)

2. A plant or plant part of hybrid maize X08R659 grown from the seed of claim 1 , wherein the plant part comprises at least one hybrid maize X08R659 cell.

3. A method of producing the seed of claim 1 , the method comprising crossing a plant of the maize line PH47GA with a plant of the maize line 1PWMQ52, wherein representative seeds of the maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52 have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004020 and 202301004, respectively.

4. A seed of hybrid maize X08R659 produced by crossing a first plant of maize line PH47GA with a second plant of maize line 1PWMQ52, wherein representative seeds of the maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52 have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004020 and 202301004, respectively, further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the maize line PH47GA, the maize line 1PWMQ52, or both maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52, and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of hybrid maize X08R659 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

5. A seed of hybrid maize X08R659 produced by crossing a first plant of maize line PH47GA with a second plant of maize line 1PWMQ52, representative seeds of the maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52 having been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004020 and 202301004, respectively, further comprising fewer than six locus conversions, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the fewer than six locus conversions, and wherein the seed produces a plant expressing the traits conferred by the fewer than six locus conversions and comprising otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of hybrid maize X08R659 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

6. The hybrid maize X08R659 seed of claim 5 , wherein the fewer than six locus conversions confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

7. The hybrid maize X08R659 seed of claim 5 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

11. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

12. A method for producing the hybrid maize X08R659 seed of claim 4 , the method comprising crossing a first plant of maize line PH47GA with a second plant of maize line 1PWMQ52, representative seeds of the maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52 having been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202004020 and 202301004, respectively, wherein at least one of the maize lines PH47GA and 1PWMQ52 further comprises the transgene.

13. The seed of claim 4 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

14. The seed of claim 4 , wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

15. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 4 .

16. A plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 4 , the plant part comprising at least one hybrid maize X08R659 cell further comprising the transgene.

17. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .
