Abstract

The invention provides, an electro-optic device that can include a pair of substrates sandwiching an electro-optic substance therebetween. The electro-optic device can further include a coating member including an antistatic material and being disposed on a surface not opposing the electro-optic substance of at least one of the pair of substrates. Accordingly, problems of dust adhesion on the surface of the electro-optic device and dust projection can be solved so as to enable images with high quality to be displayed.

Claims (13)

1. An electro-optic device, comprising:

a first substrate;

a second substrate;

an electro-optic substance located between the first substrate and the second substrate;

a dust-proof plate located on an opposite side of the second substrate than the electro-optic substance;

a polarizing plate located on an opposite side of the dust-proof plate than the second substrate; and

an anti-reflection coat located on the opposite side of the dust-proof plate than the second substrate at a position between the dust-proof plate and the polarizing plate, the anti-reflection coat including a plurality of layers.

2. The electro-optic device according to claim 1 , the plurality of layers of the anti-reflection coat including a first zirconia layer, a first silica layer, a second zirconia layer, and a second silica layer.

3. The electro-optic device according to claim 1 , the plurality of layers of the anti-reflection coat including a plurality of layers of zirconia or silica.

4. The electro-optic device according to claim 1 , further comprising a coating member located to the opposite side of the anti-reflection coat than the electro-optic substance, the coating member including a transparent conductive material that is electrically connected to ground.

5. The electro-optic device according to claim 4 , wherein the polarizing plate is located between the anti-reflection coat and the coating member.

6. The electro-optic device according to claim 1 , further comprising a coating member located to the opposite side of the anti-reflection coat than the electro-optic substance, the coating member including an antistatic material.

7. The electro-optic device according to claim 6 , wherein the polarizing plate is located between the anti-reflection coat and the coating member.
