Abstract

A control for use in a hydraulic circuit where the control can act as a valve and an auxiliary pressure source for the hydraulic circuit.

Claims (41)

1. A control for use in a hydraulic circuit having a spring applied-pressure released brake and a hydraulic motor, the control comprising:

a manifold housing;

a movable valve member disposed in the housing and movable between operating positions to selectively control fluid communication between the brake and a primary pressure source and to selectively control fluid communication between the motor and the primary pressure source, wherein the valve member includes a bore;

a movable pump member disposed in the bore, the pump member being moveable to change the volume of an auxiliary fluid pressure source when the brake is not pressurized by the primary pressure source, the valve member being moveable to provide for selective communication between the auxiliary pressure source and the brake, wherein the bore defines a pump chamber for the auxiliary fluid pressure source; and

a handle operatively connected to the valve member and to the pump member so that movement of the handle results in selective movement of the valve member and the pump member;

wherein the housing includes a first passage in communication with the brake and a second passage in communication with the primary pressure source, the valve member being movable between a first operating position and a second operating position, wherein when in the first position the valve member being positioned to allow fluid communication between the primary pressure source and the brake.

2. The control of claim 1 , wherein the handle is connected to the pump member such that the pump member selectively moves with respect to the valve member.

3. The control of claim 1 , further comprising a stop that engages the housing and the valve member for limiting movement of the valve member with respect to the housing.

4. A control for use in a hydraulic circuit having a spring applied-pressure released brake and a hydraulic motor, the control comprising:

a manifold housing;

a movable valve member disposed in the housing and movable between operating positions to selectively control fluid communication between the brake and a primary pressure source and to selectively control fluid communication between the motor and the primary pressure source, wherein the valve member includes a bore;

a movable pump member disposed in the bore, the pump member being moveable to change the volume of an auxiliary fluid pressure source when the brake is not pressurized by the primary pressure source, the valve member being moveable to provide for selective communication between the auxiliary pressure source and the brake, wherein the bore defines a pump chamber for the auxiliary fluid pressure source; and

a handle operatively connected to the valve member and to the pump member so that movement of the handle results in selective movement of the valve member and the pump member;

wherein the valve member being moveable between a first position and a second position, when in the first position the brake receives pressure from the primary pressure source, and when in the second position the brake receives pressure from the auxiliary pressure source and the motor is short circuited in relation to the primary pressure source.

5. The control of claim 4 , wherein when in the second position the motor communicates with an unpressurized reservoir through the control.

6. The control of claim 4 , wherein when in the second position an inlet of the motor is in communication with an outlet of the motor through the control.

7. The control of claim 4 , wherein the valve member is movable to an intermediate operating position where the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between the spring applied-pressure released brake and an unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

8. The control of claim 7 , further comprising a movable stop member disposed in the housing, the movable stop member being movable between a first position and a second position, when in the first position the movable stop member precludes movement of the movable member into the second position.

9. The control of claim 7 , wherein when the valve member is in the intermediate position the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between the motor and an unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

10. The control of claim 9 , wherein when the valve member is in the intermediate position the valve member is disposed to allow metered fluid communication between the motor and an unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

11. The control of claim 7 , wherein when the valve member is in the second position the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between the motor and an unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

12. A control for use in a hydraulic circuit having a spring applied-pressure released brake and a hydraulic motor, the control comprising:

a manifold housing;

a movable valve member disposed in the housing and being moveable between a first position and a second position, when in the first position the brake receives pressure from a primary pressure source, and when in the second position the brake receives pressure from an auxiliary pressure source and the motor is short circuited in relation to the primary pressure source, wherein the valve member is movable to an intermediate operating position where the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between the spring applied-pressure released brake and an unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient;

a movable pump member disposed in the housing, the pump member being moveable to change the volume of an auxiliary fluid pressure source when the brake is not pressurized by the primary pressure source, the valve member being moveable to provide for selective communication between the auxiliary pressure source and the brake; and

a handle operatively connected to the valve member and to the pump member so that movement of the handle results in selective movement of the valve member and the pump member.

13. The control of claim 12 , wherein the valve member includes a bore that receives the pump member.

14. The control of claim 13 , wherein the bore defines a pump chamber for the auxiliary fluid pressure source.

15. The control of claim 12 , further comprising a movable stop member disposed in the housing, the movable stop member being movable between a first position and a second position, when in the first position the movable stop member precludes movement of the movable member into the second position.

16. The control of claim 12 , wherein when the valve member is in the intermediate position the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between motor and the unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

17. The control of claim 16 , wherein when the valve member is in the intermediate position the valve member is disposed to allow metered fluid communication between the motor and the unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

18. The control of claim 12 , wherein when the valve member is in the second position the valve member is disposed to allow fluid communication between the motor and the unpressurized fluid reservoir or ambient.

19. A control for use in a hydraulic circuit having a spring applied-pressure released brake and a hydraulic motor, the control comprising:
