Abstract

A method for providing user data to an emergency service provider includes enrolling a user in an emergency information system, including configuring a communication device associated with the user to deliver an access identifier to an emergency service provider when the user contacts the emergency service provider using the communication device. The method also includes maintaining, in a data storage module of the emergency information system, a database including user data associated with the user. The user data is associated with the access identifier. The method further includes receiving, via a communication network linked to the emergency information system, an access request from the emergency service provider, the access request including the access identifier; and providing, via the communication network, at least some of the user data associated with the requested access identifier to the emergency service provider.

Claims (21)

1. A method of managing user data in an emergency information system, said method comprising: storing, in a data storage module of the emergency information system, user data associated with a user, said user data including information characterizing the user; assigning, using a data management module of the emergency information system, an expiration date to at least a portion of the user data; prior to the expiration date of the user data, sending, via a communication network linked to the emergency information system, a reminder to the user to update the user data; and based on an aging score of the user data, performing at least one of: generating a warning to be displayed to an emergency service provider in conjunction with the user data; and restricting access of an emergency service provider to the user data using the data management module of the emergency information system, wherein the aging score is based at least in part on an age of the user data, wherein the aging score is determined based on a time stamp of the user data, the time stamp being indicative of when the user last updated the user information.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein restricting access includes suspending an account associated with the user.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the user data from a source of the user data.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the source of the user data includes a communication service provider used by the user.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein receiving the user data includes receiving updated user data.

6. The method of claim 3 , further comprising sending a request for the user data to the source of the user data.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein sending the reminder to the user includes sending a plurality of successive reminders to the user.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein sending the plurality of successive reminders to the user includes sending the plurality of reminders to the user with an increasing frequency.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein sending the reminder to the user includes sending the reminder to the user via a voice message.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user data includes an address associated with the user.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein restricting access comprises deleting an account associated with the user.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein restricting access comprises restricting emergency service provider access the user data.

13. The method of claim 3 , wherein the source of the user data includes a third party data source associated with the user.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein sending the reminder to the user includes sending the reminder to the user via a text message.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein sending the reminder to the user includes sending the reminder to the user via an email.

16. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user data comprises medical records.

17. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user data comprises criminal records of the user.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user data comprises a photograph of the user.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user data comprises emergency contacts of the user.

20. A method of managing user data in an emergency information system, said method comprising storing, in a data storage module of the emergency information system, user data associated with a user, said user data including information characterizing the user, assigning, using a data management module of the emergency information system, an expiration date of the user data, prior to the expiration date of the user data, sending, via a communication network linked to the emergency information system, a reminder to the user to update the user data, and based on an aging score of the user data, and generating a warning to be displayed to the emergency service provider in conjunction with the user data, wherein the aging score is determined based on a time stamp of the user data, the time stamp being indicative of when the user last updated the user information.

21. A method of managing user data in an emergency information system, said method comprising storing, in a data storage module of the emergency information system, user data associated with a user, said user data including information characterizing the user, assigning, using a data management module of the emergency information system, an expiration date of the user data, prior to the expiration date of the user data, sending, via a communication network linked to the emergency information system, a reminder to the user to update the user data, and based on an aging score of the user data, restricting access of an emergency service provider to the user data using the data management module of the emergency information system, wherein the aging score is determined based on a time stamp of the user data, the time stamp being indicative of when the user last updated the information.
