Abstract

A utility vehicle is disclosed. The utility vehicle may include storage areas under the dash. The utility vehicle may include suspension systems for utility vehicles having shocks with both a fluidic stiffness adjustment and a mechanical stiffness adjustment. The utility vehicle may include an electrical power steering.

Claims (36)

1. A vehicle comprising:

a frame;

side-by-side seating supported by the frame, the side-by-side seating having at least one seat bottom surface and at least one seat back surface;

an operator area adapted for use by a vehicle operator when the vehicle is in motion, the at least one seat bottom surface and the at least one seat back surface being positioned within the operator area;

a power source supported by the frame;

a plurality of ground engaging members supporting the frame above the ground, the plurality of ground engaging members including at least two front ground engaging members positioned forward of the operator area and at least two rear ground engaging members positioned rearward of the operator area;

a CVT housing;

a CVT positioned in the CVT housing and supported by the frame, the power source being operatively coupled to at least one of the plurality of ground engaging members through the CVT to provide power from the power source to the at least one of the plurality of ground engaging members; and

an air intake system including an air inlet, the air intake system providing air to the CVT positioned in the CVT housing, the air inlet of the air intake system being incorporated into the side-by-side seating.

2. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the air inlet is positioned above the at least one seat bottom surface.

3. The vehicle of claim 2 , wherein the air inlet is positioned rearward of the at least one seat back surface and forward of the at least two rear ground engaging members.

4. The vehicle of claim 3 , wherein the air inlet is incorporated into a back of the side-by-side seating.

5. A vehicle comprising:

a frame;

side-by-side seating supported by the frame, the side-by-side seating having at least one seat bottom surface and at least one seat back surface;

an operator area adapted for use by a vehicle operator when the vehicle is in motion, the at least one seat bottom surface and the at least one seat back surface being positioned within the operator area;

a power source supported by the frame;

a plurality of ground engaging members supporting the frame above the ground, the plurality of ground engaging members including at least two front ground engaging members positioned forward of the operator area and at least two rear ground engaging members positioned rearward of the operator area;

a CVT housing;

a CVT positioned in the CVT housing and supported by the frame, the power source being operatively coupled to at least one of the plurality of ground engaging members through the CVT to provide power from the power source to the at least one of the plurality of ground engaging members; and

an air intake system including an air inlet, the air intake system providing air to the CVT positioned in the CVT housing, the air inlet of the air intake system being incorporated into the side-by-side seating, wherein the air inlet is provided in an air box which is in fluid communication with an interior of the CVT housing through an air duct.

6. The vehicle of claim 5 , wherein the air box is positioned above the at least one seat bottom surface.

7. The vehicle of claim 6 , wherein the air box is positioned rearward of the at least one seat back surface and forward of the at least two rear ground engaging members.

8. The vehicle of claim 7 , wherein the air box is incorporated into a back of the side-by-side seating.

9. The vehicle of claim 8 , wherein the air inlet is positioned above the CVT housing.

10. The vehicle of claim 8 , wherein the CVT housing is positioned under the side-by-side seating.

11. The vehicle of claim 8 , wherein the power source is positioned rearward of a front plane of the seating.

12. The vehicle of claim 8 , further comprising a front differential and a rear differential, the front differential operatively coupling at least one of the front ground engaging members to the CVT and the rear differential operatively coupling at least one of the rear ground engaging members to the CVT.

13. The vehicle of claim 8 , further comprising a cargo bed positioned rearward of the side-by-side seating, wherein the air inlet is positioned above a bottom of the cargo bed and below a top of the cargo bed.

14. The vehicle of claim 5 , further comprising a roll cage supported by the frame and positioned to protect the operator area.

15. The vehicle of claim 14 , wherein the frame includes a laterally extending frame member supporting the rear portion of the roll cage, the air duct passing through an opening in the laterally extending frame member.

16. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the air inlet is positioned above the CVT housing.

17. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the CVT housing is positioned under the side-by-side seating.

18. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the power source is positioned rearward of a front plane of the seating.

19. The vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising a front differential and a rear differential, the front differential operatively coupling at least one of the front ground engaging members to the CVT and the rear differential operatively coupling at least one of the rear ground engaging members to the CVT.

20. The vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising a cargo bed positioned rearward of the side-by-side seating, wherein the air inlet is positioned above a bottom of the cargo bed and below a top of the cargo bed.
