In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the following is provided. An agent for improving at least one of milk yield and milk quality of a ruminant, comprising at least one of cashew nut shell liquid, heat-treated cashew nut shell liquid, anacardic acid, cardanol, and cardol. An agent for preventing or treating a perinatal disease of a ruminant, comprising at least one of cashew nut shell liquid, heat-treated cashew nut shell liquid, anacardic acid, cardanol, and cardol. An agent for improving reproductivity of a ruminant, comprising at least one of cashew nut shell liquid, heat-treated cashew nut shell liquid, anacardic acid, cardanol, and cardol.

Claims (14)

1. A method of improving milk yield, milk quality or both milk yield and milk quality in a ruminant in need thereof, comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of cashew nut shell liquid, heated cashew nut shell liquid, or a mixture thereof effective to improve the milk yield, milk quality or both in said ruminant.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield, milk quality or both in said ruminant.

3. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of heated cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield, milk quality or both in said ruminant.

4. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of a mixture of cashew nut shell liquid and heated cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield, milk quality or both in said ruminant.

5. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of heated cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield.

7. The method of claim 1 , comprising administering to said ruminant an amount of a mixture of cashew nut shell liquid and heated cashew nut shell liquid effective to improve the milk yield.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

9. The method of claim 2 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

10. The method of claim 3 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

11. The method of claim 4 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

12. The method of claim 5 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

13. The method of claim 6 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.

14. The method of claim 7 , further comprising wherein the ruminant is raised with a feed having a ratio by weight of a forage to a total weight of the forage and a concentrate feed of from 0.3 to 1.0.
