Abstract

The invention relates to a steel part, the composition of the steel of which comprises, the contents being expressed by weight: 0.040%≦C≦0.100%; 0.80%≦Mn≦2.00%; Si≦0.30%; S≦0.005%; P≦0.030%; 0.010% S≦Al≦0.070%; 0.015%≦Nb≦0.100%; 0.030% Ti≦0.080%; N≦0.009%; Cu≦0.100%; Ni≦0.100%; Cr≦0.100%; Mo≦0.100%; and Ca≦0.006%, the balance of the composition consisting of iron and inevitable impurities resulting from the smelting, the microstructure of the steel consisting of at least 75% equiaxed ferrite, martensite in an amount not less than 5% but not exceeding 20%, and bainite in an amount not exceeding 10%.

Claims (43)

1. A steel part, manufactured by a process comprising:

(i) heating a steel blank;

(ii) forming the steel blank to obtain a formed blank; and

(iii) cooling the formed blank by holding the formed blank within a tool, thereby obtaining the steel part,

wherein the steel blank comprises a steel comprising, Fe and, by weight:

0.040%≦C≦0.100%;

0.80%≦Mn≦2.00%;

Si≦0.30%;

S≦0.005%l;

P≦0.030%;

0.010%≦Al≦0.070%;

0.015%≦Nb≦0.100%;

0.030%≦Ti≦0.080%;

N≦0.009;

Cu≦0.100%;

Ni≦0.100%;

Cr≦0.100%;

Mo≦0.100%;

Ca≦0.006%,

wherein a microstructure of the steel of the part, after the cooling (iii), comprises at least 75% equiaxed ferrite, martensite in an amount not less than 5% but not exceeding 20%, and bainite in an amount not exceeding 10%, expressed as surface fractions.

2. The part of claim 1 , the steel blank comprises, Fe and, by weight:

0.050%≦C≦0.080%;

1.20%≦Mn≦1.70%;

Si≦0.070%;

S≦0.004%;

P≦0.020%;

0.020%≦Al≦0.040%;

0.030%≦Nb≦0.070%;

0.060%≦Ti≦0.080%;

N≦0.009%;

Cu≦0.100%;

Ni≦0.100%;

Cr≦0.100%;

Mo≦0.100%; and

Ca ≦0.005%.

3. The part of claim 1 , wherein a mean ferrite grain size of the steel of the steel part is less than 6 microns.

4. The part of claim 1 , further comprising:

a coating comprising an alloyed layer, alloyed over an entire thickness of the alloyed layer,

wherein the alloyed layer is obtained by a process comprising heat treatment alloying the steel blank having a precoating thereon,

wherein the precoating comprises zinc or aluminum.

5. The part of claim 1 , wherein a minimum tensile strength of the steel part at any portion thereof is greater than or equal to 500 MPa and an elongation of the steel part at any portion thereof at break is greater than 15%.

6. A welded article, comprising the part of claim 1 .

7. The part of claim 1 , having a thickness in a range of from 0.5 to 4 mm.
