Abstract

A method of prefabricating and installing a synthetic turf field includes providing a controlled manufacturing facility with an open area that allows a plurality of turf strips to be laid out on a floor thereof. Visual markings are placed on the floor to allow the Individual strips to be properly aligned on the floor. Once aligned, inlays can be placed into the proper strip and then secured. After the inlays have been secured, the strips can be rolled up and appropriately labeled for subsequent installation. After all the strips that will make up the field have been processed and rolled up, the rolls can be taken to the job site so the field can be installed.

Claims (13)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, from an indoor facility, a plurality of strips of synthetic turf at an installation facility;

indicating dimensions on a floor at the installation facility, wherein the dimensions comprise:

a centerline, the centerline bisecting the floor in a first direction and corresponding to a centerline marked on each of the plurality of strips;

a midfield line, the midfield line bisecting the floor in a second direction and being substantially perpendicular to the centerline; and

a plurality of lines extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the centerline;

establishing a set off between each of the plurality of strips, wherein the set off is used to align at least one edge of each of the plurality of strips; and

placing each of the plurality of strips onto the floor such that a centerline marked on a bottom portion of each of the plurality of strips is aligned with the centerline on the floor and such that the at least one edge of each of the plurality of strips is aligned according to the set off.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein placing each of the plurality of strips on the floor further comprises placing a first end zone strip at one end of the placed plurality of strips and placing a second end zone strip at an opposite end of the placed plurality of strips.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

cutting seams between each of the plurality of strips; and

securing each of the plurality of strips, the first end zone strip, and the second end zone strip to the floor to create a synthetic field.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein a first of the plurality of strips received from the indoor facility is placed onto the floor adjacent the centerline of the floor at the installation facility.
