Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for creating an electronic communication digest. In one implementation, a system receives a first electronic communication including first content, and generates an electronic communication digest that reflects the first electronic communication by including first digest content generated based on the first content. The system receives a second electronic communication that includes second content, and determines a repeated portion of the second content that is included in the first content and a unique portion of the second content that is unique to the first content. The system also update the electronic communication digest to reflect the second electronic communication by adding second digest content generated that includes the unique portion of the content and does not include the repeated portion of the second content.

generating, responsive to the received command, data to display the electronic communication digest.

8. The system of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

extracting first header information from the first electronic communication;

generating condensed first header information based on the first header information; and

adding the condensed first header information to the electronic communication digest.

9. The system of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

accessing a list of words; and

generating the first digest content by eliminating any word from the first content that is included in the list of words.

10. The system of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

determining that the second electronic communication is related to the first electronic communication responsive to determining that an identifier of the second electronic communication is identical to a unique identifier of the first electronic communication.

11. The system of claim 10 , the operations further comprising:

determining that the second electronic communication is related to the first electronic communication responsive to determining that the second communication replies to or forwards the first communication.

12. A computer-implemented method for creating an electronic communication digest, comprising:

receiving a first electronic communication including first content;

generating first digest content based on the first content,

generating, by one or more processors, an electronic communication digest that reflects the first electronic communication by including the first digest content in the electronic communication digest;

receiving a second electronic communication that includes second content;

determining a repeated portion of the second content that is included in the first content and a unique portion of the second content that is unique to the first content;

updating the electronic communication digest to reflect the second electronic communication by adding to the electronic communication digest second digest content that includes the unique portion of the content and does not include the repeated portion of the second content; and

generating data to display an interface including the electronic communication digest,

wherein

at least a portion of the first content and at least a portion of the second content include electronic text.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 12 , further comprising:

automatically updating the electronic communication digest each time a new electronic communication related to the first electronic communication is received to reflect the newly received electronic communication.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 12 , further comprising:

generating the data to display the electronic communication digest as a graphical diagram, the graphical diagram including:

a first node representing the first digest content,

a second node representing the second digest content, and

a link between the first node and the second node representing a relationship between the first digest content and the second digest content.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising:

automatically generating a new node and a new link each time a new electronic communication related to the first electronic communication is received; and

automatically adding the new node and the new link to the graphical diagram based on a relationship between the new electronic communication and other electronic communications represented by existing nodes in the graphical diagram.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising:

receiving a selection of a node that represents an electronic communication; and

displaying the electronic communication represented by the node responsive to receiving the selection.
