Abstract

The present application discloses a composite pad structure that includes a substrate bonded to a plurality of discrete, spaced-apart, resilient elements engaged to at least one reinforcing structure.

Claims (14)

1. A composite pad structure having a substrate, wherein the substrate is bonded to a resilient material assembly comprising

a plurality of discrete, spaced-apart resilient elements having opposing sides cut from a sheet of resilient material having opposing sides, which are at least partially surrounded by

at least one reinforcing structure having holes, wherein the reinforcing structure is bound to the substrate, and wherein holes in the reinforcing structure fit around selected resilient elements.

2. The composite pad structure according to claim 1 , wherein the reinforcing structure comprises a lattice of reinforcing material.

3. The composite pad structure according to claim 2 , wherein the lattice of reinforcing material engages all of the resilient elements.

4. The composite pad structure according to claim 2 , wherein the lattice of reinforcing material engages some of the resilient elements.

5. The composite pad structure according to claim 2 , wherein at least one lattice of reinforcing material engages all of the resilient elements, and additional lattice of reinforcing material engages some of the resilient elements.

6. The composite pad according to claim 1 , wherein a second substrate is bonded on opposite side of the resilient elements.

7. The composite pad according to claim 1 , wherein the resilient elements engaged to the reinforcing structure is positioned between a first and second substrates.

8. A support comprising the composite according to claim 1 .

9. The support according to claim 8 , which is an athletic garment, footwear, bag, backpack, sack, seating pads, or athletic equipment.

10. An athletic safety wear, comprising the composite according to claim 1 .

11. The composite pad structure according to claim 1 , wherein the resilient elements have a first side and a second side, wherein the first side of the resilient elements are bound to a first substrate.

12. The composite pad structure according to claim 11 , wherein the second side of the resilient elements are bound to a second substrate.
