Biologic balloon and method of use
A surgical balloon composed of an aseptically recovered umbilical cord vessel is provided. Methods of preparing a balloon and methods of using the same are also provided.
1. A method for stabilizing or treating a collapsed or compressed vertebral body of a patient, the method comprising:
introducing at least one balloon into the collapsed or compressed vertebral body; and
inflating the at least one balloon to create a void or space in the vertebral body,
wherein the balloon comprises at least one umbilical cord vessel.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the balloon contains a demineralized bone matrix composition.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the balloon contains a human birth tissue material composition.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the human birth tissue material composition comprises one or more components of a placental organ.
5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the one or more of the components of the placental organ is selected from the group consisting of the placental globe, an umbilical cord, umbilical cord blood, a chorionic membrane, an amniotic membrane, amniotic fluid and other gelatins, cells, and extracellular material of the placental organ.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the balloon remains in the body cavity post-surgery.
