Abstract

A method and system for booking a travel ticket for a traveler. The method includes recording a traveler's travel preferences in online repository for personal information in an account established for the traveler. The stored information is then sent to a second computer along with authorization information to enable booking a ticket for the traveler.

Claims (31)

1. A computer-implemented method of utilizing a traveler's travel preferences received from an online repository established on a server computer system connected to the Internet, the method comprising the following step:

booking a travel ticket for the traveler based on the traveler's travel preferences received from the server computer system, wherein the server computer system is configured to perform the following method steps:

establishing an account for the traveler with the server computer system;

receiving, from a client computer operated by the traveler, an indication of the traveler's travel preferences;

storing the indication of the traveler's travel preferences in the account established for the traveler with the server computer system;

receiving, at the server computer system, authorization information from a second computer, the second computer having received from the client computer the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the server computer;

verifying, at the server computer system, the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the second computer; and

sending to the second computer the traveler's travel preferences stored in traveler's account, whereby the second computer utilizes the traveler's travel preferences so received to book an airline ticket for the traveler.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the server computer system is enabled to send marketing information regarding a product or service to the traveler based on one or more travel preferences of the traveler stored in the traveler's account.

3. A server computer system comprising:

one or more processors;

one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors;

one or more storage devices coupled to one or more processors, the one or more storage devices being capable of storing one or more travel preferences for a plurality of travelers;

a data communication device coupled to the one or more processors to establish a connection with one or more client computers via the Internet; and

one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage devices comprising processor-executable instructions, the processor-executable instructions capable of causing one or more processors to perform the following method steps:

establishing an account for a traveler with the server computer system;

receiving, from a client computer operated by the traveler, an indication of the traveler's travel preferences;

storing the indication of the traveler's travel preferences in the account established for the traveler with the server computer system;

receiving, at the server computer system, authorization information from a second computer, the second computer having received from the client computer the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the server computer;

verifying, at the server computer system, the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the second computer; and

sending to the second computer the traveler's travel preferences stored in traveler's account, wherein the second computer is enabled to utilize the traveler's travel preferences so received to book an airline ticket for the traveler.

4. The server computer system of claim 3 , wherein the server computer system is enabled to send marketing information regarding a product or service to the traveler based on one or more travel preferences of the traveler stored in the traveler's account.

5. An article of manufacture comprising:

one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage devices comprising processor-executable instructions, the processor-executable instructions capable of causing one or more processors of a server computer system to perform the following method steps:

establishing an account for a traveler with the server computer system;

receiving, via a client computer operated by the traveler, an indication of the traveler's travel preferences;

storing the indication of the traveler's travel preferences in the account established for the traveler in the server computer system;

receiving, at the server computer system, authorization information from a second computer, the second computer having received from the client computer the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the server computer;

verifying, at the server computer system, the authorization information to transmit the traveler's travel preferences to the second computer; and

sending to the second computer the traveler's travel preferences stored in traveler's account, wherein the second computer is enabled to utilize the traveler's travel preferences so received to book an airline ticket for the traveler.

6. The article of manufacture of claim 5 , wherein the server computer system is enabled to send marketing information regarding a product or service to the traveler based on one or more travel preferences of the traveler stored in the traveler's account.
