Abstract

The present invention is directed to vascular implants and methods for fabricating the same. The implantable devices include but are not limited to stents, grafts and stent grafts. In many embodiments, the devices include one or more side branch lumens interconnected with the main lumen.

Claims (16)

1. An implantable stent for use in a vessel or tubular structure, comprising:

a main lumen comprising a structure formed from wires and having a uniform diameter and having a pattern of interconnected cells;

at least one side branch lumen formed from wires and extending laterally to the structure and where an angle between the side branch lumen and the main lumen is adjustable, and where the wires forming the main lumen and wires forming the side branch lumen are interconnected allowing the side branch lumen to be in fluid communication with the main lumen; and

a graft material coupled to the main lumen and extending along a length of the main lumen and the at least one side branch lumen, where the graft lumen includes a series of convolutions extending along a length of the main lumen and having pre-formed ridges and grooves about an entire circumference of the graft, where the series of convolutions enhances flexibility and adjustability of the implantable stent where a perimeter of a base of the at least one side branch lumen that connects to the main lumen is devoid of convolutions.

2. The implantable stem of claim 1 , wherein the structure comprises one or more length sections having cells having a first size and one or more other sections having cells having a second or size, wherein the first size is greater than the second size.

3. The implantable stem of claim 1 , wherein the main lumen has at least one section of smaller cells adjacent the side branch lumen.

4. The implantable stem of claim 1 , wherein at least one side branch lumen comprises two side branch lumens and the at least one section of smaller cells extends between the two side branch lumens.

5. The implantable stent of claim 4 , wherein the stem is made of stainless steel, elgiloy, tungsten, platinum or NITINOL.

6. The implantable stent of claim 1 , wherein the cell size of the at least one side branch lumens is gradually reduced in the distal direction.

7. The implantable stem of claim 1 , wherein the structure is constructed of elastically compliant wire.

8. The implantable stem of claim wherein the structure comprises a main lumen and at least one side branch lumen extending laterally to the structure.

9. The implantable stem of claim 8 , wherein the cell size of the at least one side branch lumens is gradually reduced in the distal direction.

10. The implantable stent of claim 8 , wherein the structure is constructed of elastically compliant wire.

11. The implantable stent of claim 10 , wherein the stent is made of stainless steel, elgiloy, tungsten, platinum or NITINOL.

12. The implantable stem of claim 1 , wherein the structure comprises two side branch lumens.

13. The implantable stem of claim 1 , where the size of the cells varies along a length of the structure.
