Abstract

An XML processing system and methods of processing XML data are disclosed. An example disclosed method includes obtaining an extensible stylesheet language transformation (XSLT) stylesheet; transforming, via the processor, data of an extensible markup language (XML) data stream into transformed XML data using the XSLT stylesheet; and generating, via the processor, a printable representation of the data of the XML data stream based on the transformed XML data.

Claims (41)

1. A method, comprising:

obtaining an extensible stylesheet language transformation (XSLT) stylesheet;

transforming, via the processor, data of an extensible markup language (XML) data stream into transformed XML data using the XSLT stylesheet; and

generating, via the processor, a printable representation of the data of the XML data stream based on the transformed XML data, wherein generating the printable representation comprises:

processing an instream foreign object of the XML data stream to generate a bitmap; and

merging the bitmap into the printable representation.

2. A method as defined in claim 1 , further comprising formatting the transformed XML data into formatted XML data.

3. A method as defined in claim 2 , wherein generating the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream is based on the transformed XML data and the formatted XML data.

4. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein obtaining the XSLT stylesheet comprises obtaining the XSLT stylesheet from a repository.

5. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein obtaining the XSLT stylesheet comprises identifying the XSLT stylesheet in the XML data stream.

6. A method as defined in claim 1 , further comprising printing the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream.

7. A method as defined in claim 1 , further comprising transmitting the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream to a printer.

8. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the instream foreign object is code representative of a barcode.

9. An apparatus, comprising:

memory including computer-readable instructions; and

a processor to execute the computer-readable instructions to perform operations comprising:

obtaining an extensible stylesheet language transformation (XSLT) stylesheet;

transforming data of an extensible markup language (XML) data stream into transformed XML data using the XSLT stylesheet; and

generating a printable representation of the data of the XML data stream based on the transformed XML data, wherein generating the printable representation comprises:

processing an instream foreign object of the XML data stream to generate a bitmap; and

merging the bitmap into the printable representation.

10. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise formatting the transformed XML data into formatted XML data.

11. An apparatus as defined in claim 10 , wherein generating the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream is based on the transformed XML data and the formatted XML data.

12. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein obtaining the XSLT stylesheet comprises obtaining the XSLT stylesheet from a repository.

13. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein obtaining the XSLT stylesheet comprises identifying the XSLT stylesheet in the XML data stream.

14. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise printing the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream.

15. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise transmitting the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream to a device.

16. An apparatus as defined in claim 9 , wherein the instream foreign object is code representative of a barcode.

17. A computer-readable memory comprising machine readable instructions that, when executed, cause a machine to at least:

obtain an extensible stylesheet language transformation (XSLT) stylesheet;

transform data of an extensible markup language (XML) data stream into transformed XML data using the XSLT stylesheet; and

generate a printable representation of the data of the XML data stream based on the transformed XML data, wherein generating the printable representation comprises:

processing an instream foreign object of the XML data stream to generate a bitmap; and

merging the bitmap into the printable representation.

18. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to format the transformed XML data into formatted XML data.

19. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to generate the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream based on the transformed XML data and the formatted XML data.

20. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to obtain the XSLT stylesheet by obtaining the XSLT stylesheet from a repository.

21. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to obtain the XSLT stylesheet by identifying the XSLT stylesheet in the XML data stream.

22. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to print the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream.

23. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the machine to transmit the printable representation of the data of the XML data stream to a device.

24. A computer-readable memory as defined in claim 17 , wherein the instream foreign object is code representative of a barcode.
