Apparatus and method for displaying a point of interest
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for displaying a point of interest (POI). According to the present invention, a screen for path guiding and a screen for POI guiding can be simultaneously and separately provided, thereby facilitating the recognition of a POI and increasing the accessibility to a POI while driving.
1. An apparatus for displaying a point-of-interest (POI) in a vehicle, comprising:
an output unit displaying a navigation path with a first image icon for a first POI along the navigation path; and
a controller to display, on the output unit, a list for POI guiding including at least the first POI, wherein the list for POI guiding is displayed at the same time as the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI such that the list for POI guiding does not overlap the navigation path and does not overlap the first image icon for the first POI,
wherein the list for POI guiding includes another first image icon for the first POI, a first name of the first POI, and a first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time, and
wherein, as the vehicle passes the first POI, the first image icon for the first POI is displayed along the navigation path while the other first image icon for the first POI, the first name of the first POI, and the first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time disappears from the list for POI guiding.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the list for POI guiding includes a plurality of POIs selected from at least one category by a user.
3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein for each POI included in the list for POI guiding, the list for POI guiding further includes another image icon for the respective POI, a name for the respective POI, and a remaining distance from the vehicle to the respective POI in real-time.
4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the navigation path with the first image icon for a first POI along the navigation path and the list for POI guiding are displayed on the output unit by either PIP (Picture in Picture) or PBP (Picture by Picture).

The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein, if the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI along the navigation path and the list for POI guiding are displayed by PIP, the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI along the navigation path is displayed as a main screen and the list for POI guiding is displayed as an auxiliary screen in a part of the main screen.
6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the controller detects whether the list for POI guiding will overlap the navigation path and moves the list for POI guiding such that the list for POI guiding will not overlap the navigation path.

The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the controller moving the list for POI guiding such that the list for POI guiding will not overlap the navigation path includes the controller detecting a rear area of a moving direction of the vehicle or an area independent of the moving direction of the vehicle, and moving the list for POI guiding to the detected area.

The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the controller moving the list for POI guiding such that the list for POI guiding will not overlap the navigation path and will not overlap the first image icon for the first POI includes the controller detecting a rear area of a moving direction of the vehicle or an area independent of the moving direction of the vehicle, and moving the list for POI guiding to the detected area.
9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein if a POI is selected from the list for POI guiding, the navigation path of the vehicle is altered by changing the navigation path to the selected POI such that the selected POI is a destination.
10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein if a POI is selected from the list for POI guiding is selected, the selected POI is added to the navigation path as a way point.
11. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first image icon and the other first image icon correspond to a unique logo of a company operating the first POI.
12. An apparatus for displaying a point-of-interest (POI) in a vehicle, comprising:
an output unit displaying at least a navigation path with a first image icon for a first POI along the navigation path; and
a controller to display, on the output unit, a list for POI guiding including at least the first POI, wherein the list for POI guiding is displayed at the same time as the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI such that the list for POI guiding does not overlap the navigation path and does not overlap the first image icon for the first POI,
wherein the list for POI guiding includes another first image icon for the first POI, a first name of the first POI, and a first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time, and
wherein the controller detects whether the list for POI guiding will overlap the navigation path and moves the list for POI guiding such that the list for POI guiding will not overlap the navigation path and will not overlap the first image icon for the first POI.
13. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the list for POI guiding includes a plurality of POIs selected from at least one category by a user.
14. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein if a POI is selected from the list for POI guiding, the navigation path of the vehicle is altered by changing the navigation path to the selected POI such that the selected POI is a destination.
15. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein if a POI is selected from the list for POI guiding is selected, the selected POI is added to the navigation path as a way point.
16. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the first image icon and the other first image icon correspond to a unique logo of a company operating the first POI.
17. A method for displaying a point-of-interest (POI) in a vehicle, comprising:
displaying a navigation path with a first image icon for a first POI along the navigation path;
displaying a list for POI guiding including at least the first POI at the same time as the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI such that the list for POI guiding does not overlap the navigation path and does not overlap the first image icon for the first POI,
wherein the list for POI guiding includes another first image icon of the first POI, a first name of the first POI, and a first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time, and
wherein, as the vehicle passes the first POI, the first image icon of the first POI is displayed along the navigation path while the other first image icon for the first POI, the first name of the POI, and the first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time disappears from the list for POI guiding.
18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the displaying the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI and the list for POI guiding is by either PIP (Picture in Picture) or PBP (Picture by Picture).
19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI and the list for POI guiding are displayed by PIP, the method further comprising,
displaying the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI as a main screen; and
displaying the list for POI guiding as an auxiliary screen in a part of the main screen.
20. The method of claim 19 , further comprising:
detecting a region of the main screen where the list for POI guiding will not overlap with the navigation path of the first screen; and
moving the auxiliary screen to the detected region of the main screen.
21. The method of claim 20 , wherein the detecting the region of the main screen where the list for POI guiding will not overlap with the navigation path of the first screen includes detecting a rear area of a moving direction of the vehicle or an area independent of the moving direction of the vehicle.
22. The method of claim 17 , wherein the list for POI guiding includes a plurality of POIs selected from at least one category by a user.
23. The method of claim 17 , further comprising:
selecting a POI from the list for POI guiding; and
altering the navigation path of the vehicle by setting up the selected POI as a destination point.
24. The method of claim 17 , further comprising:
selecting a POI from the list for POI guiding; and
adding the selected POI to the navigation path as a way point.
25. The method of claim 17 , wherein the first image icon and the other first image icon correspond to a unique logo of a company operating the first POI.
26. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program for carrying out a method for displaying a point-of-interest (POI) in a vehicle, the method comprising:
displaying a navigation path with a first image icon for a first POI along the navigation path;
displaying a list for POI guiding including at least the first POI at the same time as the navigation path with the first image icon for the first POI such that the list for POI guiding does not overlap the navigation path and does not overlap the first image icon for the first POI,
wherein the list for POI guiding includes another first image icon of the first POI, a first name of the first POI, and a first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time, and
wherein, as the vehicle passes the first POI, the first image icon of the first POI is displayed along the navigation path while the other first image icon for the first POI, the first name of the first POI, and the first remaining distance from the vehicle to the first POI in real-time disappears from the list for POI guiding.
