Abstract

A method for using a wireless receiver may include receiving subscribed messages for a user identified with a user account of a hub, being messages posted by other uses of the hub to which the user has subscribed. The method may include automatically processing the messages to determine content for display on a display device, and displaying the content on the display device. The display device may be configured as two separate screens mounted at separate locations on the user's body. The messages may include user status messages, which are messages posted to the hub by the user, and the user status messages and subscription messages may be displayed on separate ones of the two screens. An apparatus for performing the method may include a processor coupled to a memory holding encoded instructions for performing operations of the method.

Claims (32)

1. An apparatus comprising:

an article of clothing having an integral display device mounted thereon, the integral display device operably coupled to a wireless receiver and comprising a flexible display screen configured to display content to persons in a vicinity of a user wearing the article of clothing;

a processor coupled to the wireless receiver; and

a memory coupled to the processor, wherein the memory holds program instructions that, when processed by the processor, causes the integral display device to:

receive multicast messages posted by a plurality of people to a hub, wherein the messages are transmitted by the hub to the wireless receiver coupled to the display device; and

display one or more messages on the display screen, wherein the one or more messages displayed are associated with a Hash Tag specified by the user of the integral display device and are filtered by whether the user has designated an account originating the message as qualified or disqualified to post.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the article of clothing is configured by a computing device operably connected to the article of clothing.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the messages are filtered by whether the messages contain obscenities or designated sensitive words prior to display on the display device.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the messages utilized for display are prioritized based at least in part on the proximity of the person sending each message.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the messages utilized for display are filtered by whether the user has designated the account originating the message as qualified or disqualified to post.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the Hash Tag is a word or phrase preceded with a “#” character.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the Hash Tag is non-displayed information.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the messages displayed are shortened and/or expanded based at least in part on the user's preferences for the amount of content to be displayed.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the messages displayed are shortened and/or expanded based at least in part on the amount of space available on the display device to display content.

10. An apparatus comprising:

a server, in communication with at least one article of clothing having an integral display device mounted thereon, and a wireless receiver, the integral display device comprising a flexible screen configured to display content to persons in a vicinity of a user wearing the article of clothing, and the server comprising a processor and a memory, the memory holding program instructions that, when processed by the processor, cause the server to:

receive multicast messages from a plurality of people posted to a hub;

identify one or more messages posted to the hub and associated with at least one Hash Tag specified by the user of the integral display device;

filter the messages by whether the user has designated an account originating the message as qualified or disqualified to post; and

transmit the one or more messages in order of priority to the integral display device.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to prioritize the message(s) according to a rule set.

12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the article of clothing is configured by a computing device operably connected to the article of clothing.

13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to filter messages containing obscenities or designated sensitive words prior to transmission to the display device.

14. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to prioritize the message(s) based at least in part on the proximity to the display device of the person sending each message.

15. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to filter the messages by whether a user has designated the account originating the message as qualified or disqualified to post.

16. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the at least one Hash Tag is a word or phrase preceded with a “#” character.

17. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the at least one Hash Tag is non-displayed information.

18. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to shorten and/or expand the displayed messages based at least in part on the user's preferences for the amount of content to be displayed.

19. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the program instructions, further cause the server to shorten and/or expand the displayed messages based at least in part on the amount of space available on the display device to display content.

20. A method comprising:

receiving, by a server having a processor and a memory, multicast messages from a plurality of people posted to a hub;

identifying, by the server, one or more messages posted to the hub and associated with at least one-Hash Tag specified by a user of a display device mounted to an article of clothing, the messages filtered by whether the user has designated an account originating the message as qualified or disqualified to post, the display device comprising a flexible screen configured to display the one or more messages to persons in a vicinity of the user wearing the item of clothing; and transmitting, by the server, the one or more messages from the hub to a wireless receiver operably coupled to the display device.
