Abstract

The present invention comprises methods and composition for control of plant pathogens. Isolated bacteria, deposited with ATCC under the Budapest Treaty, are effective to control plant pathogens.

Claims (12)

1. A composition, comprising a carrier, an additive and a biocontrol composition, the biocontrol composition consisting of Bacillus megaterium , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12845; Paenibacillus polymyxa , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12841; Bacillus vallismortis , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12844; Bacillus subtilis spizizenii , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12842; and Bacillus amyloliquefacians , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12843, each having a concentration of 1×10 6 to 1×10 8 colony forming units per mL of carrier, wherein the additive is one or more of buffering agents, wetting agents, or mixtures thereof.

2. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising a fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, nematacide, or mixtures thereof.

A composition, comprising a carrier, an additive and a biocontrol composition, the biocontrol composition consisting of Paenibacillus polymyxa , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12841; Bacillus vallismortis , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12844; and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens , having ATCC Accession No. PTA-12843, each having a concentration of 1×10 6 to 1×10 8 colony forming units per mL of carrier, wherein the additive is one or more of buffering agents, wetting agents, coating agents, abrading agents, or mixtures thereof.

4. The composition of claim 3 , further comprising a fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, nematicide, or mixtures thereof.

5. A method of protecting plants against plant pathogens comprising contacting plants, plant parts, and/or seeds, and/or soil or media in which the pants, plant parts and/or seeds are grown, with an effective amount of the biocontrol composition of claim 3 .

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the contacting is by topical application.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the contacting comprises treating plant seeds by topical application.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the contacting comprising treating soil around the plants.

The method of claim 5 , further comprising adding an effective amount of the biocontrol composition or an effective amount of one or more of the bacterial strains in the biocontrol composition to water provided to the plants or seeds for contacting the plants, seeds or soil surrounding the plants or seed.

10. The method of claim 5 , further comprising adding an effective amount of the biocontrol composition to media contacting the plants or seeds.

11. The method of claim 5 , wherein the plant or seed contacted is a food crop; a turf grass; a flowering plant, bush or tree; a fruit-bearing plant or vegetable; a household plant; a nursery plant; a landscape plant; or a biomass plant.

The method of claim 5 , wherein the plant or seed contacted is alfalfa, rice, wheat, barley, rye, cotton, sunflower, peanut, corn, potato, sweet potato, bean, pea, chicory, lettuce, endive, cabbage, brussel sprout, beet, parsnip, turnip, cauliflower, broccoli, turnip, radish, spinach, onion, garlic, eggplant, pepper, celery, carrot, squash, pumpkin, zucchini, cucumber, apple, banana, pear, melon, citrus, strawberry, grape, raspberry, pineapple, soybean, tobacco, tomato, sorghum, or sugarcane.
