Abstract

The present invention is directed to therapeutic agents which are atypical antipsychotics and which are useful in the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders associated with dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A neurotransmission dysfunction.

Claims (17)

1. A compound which is:

4. A pharmaceutical composition which comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and the compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

5. A pharmaceutical composition which comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and the compound of claim 2 .

6. A pharmaceutical composition which comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and the compound of claim 3 in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

7. A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

8. A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 2 .

9. A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 3 in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

10. A method for treating bipolar disorder in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

11. A method for treating bipolar disorder in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 2 .

12. A method for treating bipolar disorder in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 3 in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

13. A method for treating anxiety in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

14. A method for treating anxiety in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 2 .

15. A method for treating anxiety in a mammalian patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of claim 3 in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
