Abstract

The invention encompasses business methods that include supplying an additive for addition to a bodywash, or a bodywash containing such an additive, and receiving payment for the additive or bodywash, as well as encompassing business methods that include designing, testing, and marketing an additive for addition to a bodywash.

Claims (42)

1 . A business method comprising:

(a) supplying an additive for addition to a bodywash to a customer, and

(b) receiving payment for said additive.

2 . The business method of claim 1 , wherein the additive is supplied to the customer exclusively.

3 . The business method of claim 2 , wherein the additive is supplied to the customer exclusively in a geographical territory.

4 . The business method of claim 3 , wherein the additive is supplied to a second customer exclusively in a second geographical territory.

5 . The business method of claim 3 , wherein the additive is supplied to the customer exclusively for use in a defined bodywash.

6 . The business method of claim 3 , wherein the additive is supplied to a second customer exclusively for use in a second defined bodywash.

7 . The business method of claim 3 , wherein the additive is supplied to the customer exclusively for a defined, finite time.

8 . The business method of claim 1 wherein the additive is supplied to a plurality of customers.

9 . The business method of claim 8 wherein the additive is supplied to each customer exclusively for use in non-overlapping geographical areas, products, or a combination thereof.

10 . The business method of claim 8 wherein the additive is supplied to each customer non-exclusively.

11 . The business method of claim 8 wherein the additive is supplied to at least one customer on an exclusive basis for sale or use in geographical area, product, or combination thereof, and to at least one other customer on a non-exclusive basis for use in a second geographical area, product, or combination thereof, wherein the second area, product, or combination does not overlap the first area, product, or combination.

12 . The business method of claim 1 further comprising: c) manufacturing the additive.

13 . The business method of claim 12 wherein steps a) and b) are performed by a first business entity and the additive is manufactured by a second business entity.

14 . The method of claim 1 wherein the additive contains an active that is encapsulated.

15 . The method of claim 1 wherein the additive comprises an active that comprises a sunscreen.

16 . The method of claim 15 wherein, when the additive is combined with said bodywash, after application of the bodywash to skin and rinsing, the skin is protected from sunlight with an average SPF of at least about 15.

17 . The method of claim 15 wherein the additive further comprises a non-sunscreen active.

18 . A business method comprising:

(a) supplying a customer with a license to an additive for addition to a bodywash, and

(b) receiving payment for said license.

19 . The business method of claim 18 wherein the payment is in the form of equity in said customer, a license issue royalty, royalties on sales of products containing the licensed additive, license maintenance fees, or a combination thereof.

20 . The business method of claim 18 , wherein the additive is licensed to the customer exclusively.

21 . The business method of claim 20 , wherein the additive is licensed to the customer exclusively in a geographical territory.

22 . The business method of claim 20 , wherein the additive is licensed to a second customer exclusively in a second geographical territory.

23 . The business method of claim 20 , wherein the additive is licensed to the customer exclusively for use in a defined bodywash.

24 . The business method of claim 20 , wherein the additive is licensed to a second customer exclusively for use in a second defined bodywash.

25 . The business method of claim 20 , wherein the additive is licensed to the customer exclusively for a defined, finite time.

26 . The business method of claim 18 wherein the additive is licensed to a plurality of customers.

27 . The business method of claim 26 wherein the additive is licensed to each customer exclusively for use in non-overlapping geographical areas, products, or a combination thereof.

28 . The business method of claim 26 wherein the additive is licensed to each customer non-exclusively.

29 . The business method of claim 26 wherein the additive is licensed to at least one customer on an exclusive basis for sale or use in geographical area, product, or combination thereof, and to at least one other customer on a non-exclusive basis for use in a second geographical area, product, or combination thereof, wherein the second area, product, or combination does not overlap the first area, product, or combination.

30 . The method of claim 18 wherein the additive is encapsulated.

31 . The method of claim 18 wherein the additive comprises a sunscreen.

32 . The method of claim 31 wherein, when the additive is combined with said bodywash, after application of the bodywash to skin and rinsing, the skin is protected from sunlight with an average SPF of at least about 15.

33 . The method of claim 31 wherein the additive further comprises a non-sunscreen active.

34 . A business method comprising licensing an additive for addition to a bodywash to a first customer and selling an additive to a bodywash to a second customer.

35 . A method of operating a bodywash additive business, the method comprising: a) designing an additive for use in a personal care product; b) testing the additive for safety and effectiveness in humans; c) arranging for distribution and marketing of the additive.

36 . The method of claim 35 wherein steps a) and c) are preformed by a first business entity and step c) is performed by an academic entity or by a second business entity.

37 . The method of claim 36 wherein step b) is performed as a joint venture between said first and second entities.

38 . A business method comprising selling an option to license or buy an additive for addition to a bodywash to a customer.
