Abstract

A display device such as liquid crystal display device which restrains the entrance of static electricity into a scanning signal driver circuit or a video signal driver circuit includes a pair of substrates, a signal line, a capacitance line and a counter voltage line formed on one substrate of the pair of substrate, a pixel including a thin film transistor connected to the signal line, a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor and a counter electrode connected to the counter voltage line, a driver circuit formed on the one substrate and connected to the signal line and an interconnection layer disposed between the pixel and the driver circuit. At least one of the capacitance line and the counter voltage line is connected to the interconnection layer between the driver circuit and the pixel.

Claims (23)

1. A display device comprising:

a pair of substrates;

a plurality of pixels comprising a plurality of pixel electrodes and a plurality of counter electrodes formed on one substrate of the pair of substrates;

a plurality of gate signal lines and a plurality of drain signal lines formed on the one substrate;

a plurality of capacitance lines;

a counter voltage line connected to the plurality of counter electrodes;

a driver circuit connecting at least one of the gate signal lines or the drain signal lines, the driver circuit being arranged at a position of the display device which is in non-overlapping relation with the pixels in plan view; and

a conductive layer restraining static electricity from entering the driver circuit,

wherein the conductive layer is formed adjacent to the driver circuit, and

wherein at least one of the capacitance lines and the counter voltage line is connected to the conductive layer.

2. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the conductive layer is formed on the driver circuit in plan view.

3. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the conductive layer is formed between the driver circuit and a liquid crystal layer.

4. A display device comprising:

a pair of substrates;

a plurality of pixels comprising a plurality of pixel electrodes and a plurality of counter electrodes formed on one substrate of the pair of substrates;

a plurality of gate signal lines and a plurality of drain signal lines formed on the one substrate;

a plurality of capacitance lines;

a counter voltage line connected to the plurality of counter electrodes;

a driver circuit connecting at least one of the gate signal lines or the drain signal lines, the driver circuit being arranged at a position of the display device which is in non-overlapping relation with the pixels in plan view; and

restraining means formed adjacent said driver circuit for restraining static electricity from entering the driver circuit;

wherein at least one of the capacitance lines and the counter voltage line is connected to the restraining means.

5. A display device according to claim 4 , wherein the restraining means comprises a conductive layer formed to substantially surround the driver circuit.

6. A display device according to claim 5 , wherein the conductive layer is formed between the driver circuit and a liquid crystal layer.
