Printable file repurposing method remapping image data to a primary resolution and assinging values to a macro pixel
View Patent ↗The present invention addresses the reformatting of a digital “ready to print” data file into a continuous tone (32 or 24 bit) file whereby discrete values in the tone range are uniquely assigned to specific binary combinations. The purpose for this transform is to facilitate further manipulation of preprocessed data. One application of the present invention is to exist as a critical piece of proofing workflow for a technology that reduces continuous tone data into a binary form representing droplet selection prior to output.
1. A method for repurposing a printable file comprising the steps of
remapping image data to a primary resolution, wherein a macro pixel contains all micro pixel data contained in the primary resolution;
assigning digital values to the macro pixel;
indexing the digital values into a table to match some functions of the macro pixel.
2. A method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising the step of creating a substitution palette of all available combinations for the macro pixel.
3. A method as claimed in claim 2 further comprising the step of using a lookup table to assign value to all possible macro pixel combinations.
4. A method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising the step of assigning value to the macro pixel based on micro pixel content within the macro pixel.
5. A method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising the step of assigning value to the macro pixel based on resulting average print density of the macro pixel.
6. A method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising the step of assigning value to the macro pixel based on resulting average print color of the macro pixel.
7. A method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising the step of assigning multiple pixels of potentially different size, shape, resolution, or color to accurately represent a single macro pixel of a first printing device on a second printing device.
