Whitefly ecdysone receptor polypeptide and methods
View Patent ↗The present invention relates to a novel isolated whitefly ecdysone receptor polypeptide. The invention also relates to an isolated nucleic acid encoding the whitefly ecdysone receptor polypeptide, to vectors comprising them and to their uses, in particular in methods for modulating gene expression in an ecdysone receptor-based gene expression modulation system and methods for identifying molecules that modulate whitefly ecdysone receptor activity.
1. An isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 1-52 of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 119-192 of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 193-416 of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 53-416 of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 119-416 of SEQ ID NO: 2, and amino acids 183-416 of SEQ ID NO: 2.
2. A composition comprising the isolated polypeptide according to claim 1 and an acceptable carrier.
3. A method of screening for molecules that modulate whitefly ecdysone receptor activity in a cell, the method comprising:
(a) contacting a cell comprising the isolated polypeptide according to claim 1 with a candidate molecule; and
(b) detecting whitefly ecdysone receptor activity in the presence of the molecule.
4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the molecule is an agonist of whitefly ecdysone receptor.
5. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the molecule is an antibody.
6. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the molecule is a monoclonal antibody.
