Abstract

A communication device is operable to manage communication of data streams, which comprise data encoded utilizing scheme that generate plurality of frames with logical grouping and/or inter-frame dependencies, based on determination of network payload parameters that are utilized for the data transmission. Exemplary encoding schemes comprise MPEG encoding, which generates data streams comprised I-frames, P-frames and/or B-frames. Network packets that are utilized to perform data communication are generated such that packet payloads comprise only data corresponding to a single frame and/or logical grouping within the encoded data stream. Feedback from networking subsystem in the communication device may be provided during processing of the data streams to enable use of network payload parameters during encoding operations. Frame sizes may be adjusted, for example, so that a size of each frame is multiple of a size of a payload of the network packets that are utilized in data communication.

Claims (27)

1. A method for communication, the method comprising:

in a communication device that is operable to generate and/or process data streams:

determining network payload parameters that are utilized for transmitting said data streams via one or more interfaces utilized by said communication device; and

rearranging at least a portion of said data that has been encoded for transmission via said data streams based on said determined network payload parameters, wherein said encoding of said data generates a plurality of frames with logical grouping and/or inter-frame dependencies, said rearranging done to prevent generation of network packets comprising data corresponding to more than one frame of said plurality of frames or crossing of said logical grouping and/or said inter-frame dependencies of said plurality of frames; and

transmitting said encoded data, utilizing said data streams, via said one or more interfaces.

2. The method according to claim 1 , comprising generating network packets that only comprise data corresponding to frames having a same type and/or a logical grouping.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said encoding is based on MPEG standards.

4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein said plurality of frames comprise MPEG based I-frames, P-frames and/or B-frames, and wherein said logical grouping is based on MPEG frame referencing dependencies.

5. The method according to claim 1 , comprising determining payloads in network packets and/or frames communicated via networking subsystem in said communication device based on said logical grouping and/or inter-frame dependencies.

6. The method according to claim 1 , comprising providing feedback from networking subsystem in said device during said processing of said data streams to enable said determination of said networking payload parameters and/or limitations.

7. The method according to claim 6 , comprising encoding of said data streams based in said feedback.

8. The method according to claim 7 , comprising managing stream packetization of said data streams based on said feedback when said data streams are MPEG encoded.

9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein said stream packetization management comprises re-packetizing packet streams generated during said MPEG encoding.

10. The method according to claim 7 , comprising retagging frames and/or packets generated during said encoding of said data streams when use of said feedback requires change in content and/or order of said frames and/or packets.

11. A system for communication, the system comprising:

one or more circuits in a communication device that is operable to generate and/or process data streams, said one or more circuits are operable to determine network payload parameters that are utilized for transmitting said data streams via one or more interfaces utilized by said communication device;

said one or more circuits are operable to rearrange at least a portion of said data that has been encoded for transmission via said data streams based on said determined network payload parameters, wherein said encoding of said data generates a plurality of frames with logical grouping and/or inter-frame dependencies and wherein said one or more circuits are operable to rearrange the at least a portion of said data to prevent generation of network packets comprising data corresponding to more than one frame of said plurality of frames or crossing of said logic grouping and/or said inter-frame dependencies of said plurality of frames; and

said one more circuits are operable to transmit said encoded data, utilizing said data streams, via said one or more interfaces.

12. The system according to claim 11 , wherein said one or more circuits are operable to generate network packets that only comprise data corresponding to frames having a same type and/or a logical grouping.

13. The system according to claim 11 , wherein said encoding is based on MPEG standards.

14. The system according to claim 13 , wherein said plurality of frames comprise MPEG based I-frames, P-frames and/or B-frames, and wherein said logical grouping is based on MPEG frame referencing dependencies.

15. The system according to claim 11 , wherein said one or more circuits are operable to determine payloads in network packets and/or frames communicated via networking subsystem in said communication device based on said logical grouping and/or inter-frame dependencies.

16. The system according to claim 11 , wherein said one or more circuits are operable to provide feedback from networking subsystem in said device during said processing of said data streams to enable said determination of said networking payload parameters and/or limitations.

17. The system according to claim 16 , wherein said one or more circuits are operable to encode said data streams based in said feedback.

18. The system according to claim 17 , comprising managing stream packetization of said data streams based on said feedback when said data streams are MPEG encoded.

19. The system according to claim 18 , wherein said stream packetization management comprises re-packetizing packet streams generated during said MPEG encoding.

20. The system according to claim 17 , wherein said one or more circuits are operable to retag frames and/or packets generated during said encoding of said data streams when use of said feedback requires change in content and/or order of said frames and/or packets.
