Event reminder method
A method includes setting, by a mobile device, a notification based on the mobile device being within proximity of a predetermined location at a predetermined date or time. The mobile device detects that the mobile device is located within proximity of the predetermined location at the predetermined date or time. Subsequent to the detecting, the mobile device provides the notification.
1. A method comprising:
setting, by a mobile device, an event reminder based on the mobile device being within proximity of a predetermined location at a predetermined date or time relating to the time of an upcoming event;
detecting, by the mobile device, that the mobile device is located within proximity of the predetermined location at the predetermined date or time relating to the time of the event;
in response to the detecting, providing, by the mobile device, the event reminder to a user of the mobile device; and
receiving input of a status of the event reminder; and
transmitting the status of the event reminder.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the reminder is based on the mobile device being within proximity of the predetermined location at a predetermined date.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein the reminder is based on the mobile device being within proximity of the predetermined location at a predetermined time.
4. The method of claim 1 further comprising, before the detecting, recording the mobile device's current location for future identification as the predetermined location.
5. The method of claim 1 wherein the status of the event reminder is an indication of completion of a task associated with the reminder.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein transmitting the status comprises transmitting the status to another mobile device via a network.
7. A method comprising:
setting, by a mobile device, an event reminder to be provided by the mobile device at an elapsed amount of time after the mobile device has entered within proximity of a predetermined location, wherein the elapsed amount of time relates to a time of an upcoming event;
detecting, by the mobile device, that the mobile device has entered within proximity of the predetermined location;
in response to the detecting, providing, by the mobile device, the event reminder at the elapsed amount of time after the mobile device has entered within proximity of the predetermined location, reminding a user of the mobile device of the upcoming event;
receiving input of a status of the event reminder; and
transmitting the status of the event reminder.
8. The method of claim 7 wherein transmitting the status comprises transmitting the status to another mobile device.
9. A mobile communication device comprising:
a communication subsystem;
a memory; and
a processor connected with the communication subsystem and the memory, the processor configured for:
setting an event reminder based on the mobile device being within proximity of a predetermined location at a predetermined date or time relating to a time of an upcoming event;
detecting that the mobile device is located within proximity of the predetermined location at the predetermined date or time relating to the time of the event; and
in response to the detecting, providing the event reminder to a user of the mobile device;
receiving input of a status of the event reminder; and
transmitting the status of the event reminder.
10. A method, comprising:
receiving an input to set an event reminder of an upcoming event on a first mobile device, the event reminder being based on proximity to a preset location;
transmitting a wireless communication from the first mobile device to a second mobile device to cause the event reminder to be set on the second mobile device;
detecting, by the second mobile device, that the second mobile device is within proximity of the preset location;
displaying the event reminder on the second mobile device; and
transmitting status information from the second mobile device to the first mobile device relating to the reminder.
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the event reminder is based on proximity to the preset location at a predetermined date or time relating to a time of an event.
12. The method of claim 10 , further comprising, before the detecting, recording a current location of the first mobile device for future identification as the preset location.
13. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
based on the status information, applying an update at the first mobile device to clear the event reminder.
14. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
based on the status information, displaying the event reminder on the first mobile device.
15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the wireless communication is transmitted from the first mobile device to the second mobile device over a network.
