Abstract

A method is performed by an electronic communication device. The device receives a first text message, including a message body, from a sender. The device receives a second text message, including a message body, from the same sender. The device identifies information that is common to both message bodies as address card information. The address card information is displayed. The device prompts a manual verification that the address card information is valid.

Claims (25)

1. A method performed by an electronic communication device, comprising:

receiving a first text message, including a message body, from a sender;

receiving a second text message, including a message body, from the same sender;

identifying information that is common to both message bodies as address card information;

displaying the address card information; and

prompting a manual verification that the address card information is valid.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein when the second text message is received, only a portion of the message body of the first text message is stored in the device, for comparing to the message body of the second text message in the identifying step.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein when the second text message is received, the subject field of the first text message is stored in the device, for comparing to the subject field of the second text message in the identifying step.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein said identifying is performed only if the first and second text messages do not include a common subject field.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising performing said identifying only if the messages include a common subject field.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein said prompting is performed only the first time the address card information is displayed.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein said prompting is by displaying a visual indicia.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the electronic communication device is a mobile communication device.

9. An electronic communication device comprising:

a memory subsystem;

a processing subsystem; and

software stored in the memory subsystem and configured to be processed by the processing subsystem to:

receive a first text message, including a message body, from a sender;

receive a second text message, including a message body, from the same sender;

identify information that is common to both message bodies as address card information;

display the address card information; and

prompt a user to verify that the address card information is valid.

10. The electronic communication device of claim 9 wherein when the second text message is received, only a portion of the message body of the first text message is stored in the device, for comparing to the message body of the second text message.

11. The electronic communication device of claim 9 wherein said identifying is performed only if the first and second text messages do not include a common subject field.

12. The electronic communication device of claim 9 wherein said prompting is performed only the first time the address card information is displayed.
