Abstract

A portable truck dump comprises a conveyor system mounted on an elongate frame to transport material from a first end of the frame to a second, opposite end of the frame. A grate is positioned over the conveyor system and is supported by first and second sides of the frame. A ramp extends generally perpendicular to the frame on each side of the frame next to the grate to provide a drive-over access for a material transport vehicle to deposit its load over the grate and onto the conveyor system and a portion of each ramp. A first end of each ramp immediately adjacent to the frame is pivotally connected to the frame to allow the ramp to be articulated towards the grate to move excess material off of the ramp and into the grate.

Claims (13)

1. A conveyor system for unloading material transport vehicles comprising:

a frame configured to be transportable by a towing vehicle, the frame carrying a belt conveyor system generally from a first end to a second end of the frame;

a grate supported by the frame near the first end of the frame, the grate being positioned over a portion of the belt conveyor system;

a first support surface adjacent to the grate on the first side of the frame;

a second support surface adjacent to the grate on the second side of the frame;

the first support surface, second support surface and grate having a width suitable to accommodate a material transport vehicle and a length suitable to allow the material transport vehicle to deposit material onto the grate and at least a portion of the first and second support surfaces, wherein the first and second support surfaces are each supported by a respective support frame pivotally connected to the belt conveyor system frame, each support frame moveable between a first and second position, wherein the first position locates the first and second support surfaces generally at the same level as the grate, and wherein the second position locates the first and second support surfaces at an elevated angle relative to the grate to move the excess material off of the first and second support surfaces and into the grate.

2. The conveyor system of claim 1 wherein each support surface comprises a pair of spaced end frame members that generally extend the width of the first and second support surfaces, a pair of spaced side frame members connected to free ends of the end frame members and a plurality of support beams that are between and generally parallel to the pair of side frame members, the plurality of support beams connected to each end frame member of the pair of spaced end frame members, the end frame members, side frame members and plurality of support members having a first surface, and a second surface opposite the first surface, the first surface being connected to one of the first and second support surfaces.

3. The conveyor system of claim 2 and further comprising:

a cross beam extending generally perpendicular to the pair of side frame members and the support beams;

means connected between the cross beam and the belt conveyor system frame for moving the support frame between the first and second position.

4. A portable conveyor system comprising:

a longitudinally extending frame comprising a first end and a second end, the first end of the frame configured for connection to a towing vehicle, the second end of the frame configured for transportation over a ground surface, the frame carrying a conveyor belt assembly generally between the first and second ends of the frame, wherein a first portion of the frame adjacent to the first end is configured to rest on the ground surface; and

a drive-over ramp system near the first end of the frame, the drive-over ramp system comprising a first ramp pivotally mounted on a first side of the frame, the first ramp having a first pair of side walls on opposite sides thereof, a second ramp pivotally on a second side of the frame, the second ramp having a second pair of side walls on opposite sides thereof, and a third ramp section supported on the frame between the first and second ramp sections, the third ramp section comprising a grate positioned over a portion of the conveyor belt assembly for receiving bulk material from a material transport vehicle and having a third pair of side walls on opposite sides thereof, the first, second and third pair of side walls cooperating to retain excess bulk material deposited by the material transport vehicle on the drive over ramp system, wherein the first and second pair of side walls are moveable relative to the third pair of side walls as the first and second ramp sections pivot from a first lowered position to a second raised position.
