Abstract

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate, liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first red color filter, a green color filter, a blue color filter, a second red color filter disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and arranged in a first direction, a first light blocking film disposed between the first red color filter and the green color filter, a second light blocking film disposed between the green color filter and the blue color filter, and a third light blocking film disposed between the blue color filter and the second red color filter, and drain signal lines, thin film transistors, and pixel electrodes formed on the first substrate. Drain electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to drain signal lines, and source electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to the pixel electrodes.

Claims (31)

1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

a first substrate and a second substrate;

liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate;

a first red color filter, a green color filter, a blue color filter, and a second red color filter disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and arranged in a first direction;

a first light blocking film disposed between the first red color filter and the green color filter, a second light blocking film disposed between the green color filter and the blue color filter, and a third light blocking film disposed between the blue color filter and the second red color filter; and

drain signal lines, thin film transistors, and pixel electrodes formed on the first substrate;

wherein drain electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to drain signal lines, and source electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to the pixel electrodes;

wherein the first, second, and third light blocking film are overlapped with the drain signal lines; and

wherein a width of a part of the second light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than a width of a part of the first light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

2. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein a width of a part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the first light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

3. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 2 ,

wherein the width of the part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the second light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

4. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first red color filter, the green color filter, the blue color filter, and the second red color filter, and the first light blocking film, the second light blocking film, and the third light blocking film are formed on the second substrate.

5. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 ,

wherein a width of a part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the first light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

6. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 5 ,

wherein the width of the part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the second light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

7. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one counter electrode formed on the first substrate:

wherein the liquid crystal is driven by an electric field generated between one of the pixel electrodes and the at least one counter electrode.

8. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 7 ,

wherein a width of a part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the first light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

9. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 8 ,

wherein the width of the part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the second light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

10. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 7 ,

wherein the first red color filter, the green color filter, the blue color filter, and the second red color filter, and the first light blocking film, the second light blocking film, and the third light blocking film are formed on the second substrate.

11. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 10 ,

wherein a width of a part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the first light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.

12. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 11 ,

wherein the width of the part of the third light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction is larger than the width of the part of the second light blocking film disposed between the pixel electrodes in the first direction.
