ACTIVATION OF MEDIA PRODUCT AGGREGATION USING ORDER HISTORY
A method is disclosed for aggregating multiple customer quoting requirements for product production and distribution to select appropriate production entities. The method includes receiving data from a network of production entities, including production and distribution pricing grids; receiving quoting requirements from a plurality of customers for producing and distributing a plurality of customer designated products that include quoting deadlines; and storing historic information related to the timing and customer requirements of prior completed customer quotes. The method further includes using a processor to aggregate multiple customer quoting requirements by simultaneously using at least the production and distribution pricing grids from the one or more production entities, the customer quoting requirements and the stored historic information to determine if the quoting requirements should be aggregated now or in the future.
1 . A method for aggregating multiple customer quoting requirements for product production and distribution to select appropriate production entities, comprising:
receiving data from a network of production entities, including production and distribution pricing grids;
receiving quoting requirements from a plurality of customers for producing and distributing a plurality of customer designated products that include quoting deadlines;
storing historic information related to the timing and customer requirements of prior completed customer quotes; and
using a processor to aggregate multiple customer quoting requirements by simultaneously using at least the production and distribution pricing grids from the one or more production entities, the customer quoting requirements and the stored historic information to determine if the quoting requirements should be aggregated now or in the future.
2 . The method of claim 1 further including sending quotes to the multiple customers using the selected production entities.
3 . The method of claim 1 further including sending a request for the extension of quoting deadlines to the customer when the historic data indicates there will be potential orders that can be aggregated after the quoting deadline.
4 . The method of claim 3 further including providing the customer with enhanced pricing based on agreed upon quoting deadline extension.
5 . The method of claim 1 further including modifying the margin received by the aggregator based on historical data.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the aggregation of multiple customer quoting requirements is determined by simultaneously using the production pricing grids, distribution pricing grids, the customer quoting requirements, and the stored historic information to produce a total cost function.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the data received from the production entities includes: minority owned status, women owned status, exclusive customer relationships, environmental compliance status, unionized workforce, non-unionized workforce, ISO certification, or energy efficiency designation.
8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the data received from the production entities includes available substrate types and substrate width capacities.

The method of claim 1 wherein the quoting requirements received from the plurality of customers includes media product quantities, shipping requirements, production deadlines, distribution deadlines, substrate specifications, product dimensions, production entity minority owned status, production entity women owned status, production entity exclusive customer relationship, production entity environmental compliance status, production entity unionized workforce status, production entity non-unionized workforce status, ISO certification, or production entity energy efficiency designation or combinations thereof.
10 . The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more aggregations are evaluated to determine which production entities will be selected.
11 . The method of claim 1 wherein the customer requirements include print production and distribution and one or more interim production and distribution processes that are used to produce additional aggregations.
12 . The method of claim 1 wherein the quoting deadline requirements are used prior to aggregation.
13 . The method of claim 1 wherein the quoting deadline requirements are used after aggregation.
14 . The method of claim 1 wherein the customer designated products include electronic media products.
15 . The method of claim 1 wherein the customer designated products include print media products.
